ASUS X58 SABERTOOTH TUF MOTHERBOARD AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER

Still seems an odd time to bring out a 1366 motherboard now doesn't it? With the new chips and socket types just around the corner?

Socket 1366 isn't due to be replaced until the end of next year.

I'm guessing your thinking about MAINSTREAM Sandybridge which is released early next near. Where as ENTHUSIAST Sandybridge is out later in the year.

Still that only gives you a year.
So is MAINSTREAM Sandybridge going to be 1366 or are you saying that the 1366 is better than the MAINSTREAM Sandybridge will be?

On a slightly different note, at least Akasa have you covered for military themed fans... (even if OcUK don't)

A year is a long time in computing.

MAINSTREAM Sandy bridge is not a replacement for 1366 and 1366 will continue to be the flagship chipet/socket.

Meaning 1366 will still be the fastest socket available until ENTHUSIAST Sandybridge.

CAPS for clarity and most people can't comprehend that Sandybridge can be 2 sockets.

If I was building a 1366 system I'd want to spend a decent amount of money on it (£1500 - £2000). If that was then gonna be 'out of date' within a year I'd be annoyed.
Guess you must be earning a lot more then me if you can happily spend £2000 a year on a PC! Good for you!

its not going to be out of date?

it will not be the latest thing. but it definatly wont be out of date.

just because something isnt the very latest thing doesnt automatically make it stop working

this is a premium grade high end motherboard for a great price.

but of course this is the OcUK forums so it is:

1. too expensive.
2. not as good as something coming out next year.
3. not as good enough for the price.

1366 has been out for ages. you are acting like it has been released and replaced in a 6 month time frame.

if you weren't on the band wagon to get maximum use out of the socket then I really am sorry.

I feel really bad reading all of your tear filled posts.

Bit Naff really, OK for COD warriors. needs an olive drab case and monitor to go with it.

Most Milspec computers I have researched, are to do with high G and impact forces, waterproofed and electrically shielded. I used to take computers into mines and these were the features I was looking for..

andy.

OK, 'out of date' might not have been the best term to use, but that's why i quoted it.

Surely if you're the sort of person that's buying a high end system you're probably buying it because you want a high end system not because it's the minimum that meets your needs at the time. I'm just wondering if you're the person that wants a high end system if you'd be happy paying a lot of money for something that, while it'll still work as well as when you bought it, wont be in the high end bracket and to get there would be a sizeable upgrade.
It's like at the minute a lot of people are advising people hold off buying a high end ATI (or Nvidia) card until the ATI 6000 cards are out. but as you've said here the 5000 series will still work fine so why are people telling people to wait?

Arguably all true...:)

Not the 1366 socket, just this board. Just questioning if there is a need in the market for this product at this price at this point in the socket's lifecycle.

if you weren't on the band wagon to get maximum use out of the socket then I really am sorry.

Yeah, do sorta regret that. I went for a 1156 board with a i5 750. Had it about a year and have never really been happy with it. I should've gone the 1366 route.

I feel really bad reading all of your tear filled posts.

Oooo, snippy!
This seems a bit unnecessary. I don't believe I insulted anyone or did anything to warrant this. Unless it was for congratulating someone on earning good money...

TBH, that was a bit of a jackass thing to say, even if you don't agree with him. It has nothing to do with the thread, and you are taking it to personal.

Googaly> A year is a long time in PC circles, and some of the best products come out just before a transition period, so manufacturers can get extra cash by making things tempting etc. A solid motherboard will always be sort after :-) I.e. Some of the best automobile models come out near the end of life, as they pile on all the old bits to make them attractive, and rather than people waiting for the new one, they sometimes do 'specials'. You seem to be attacking the idea of bringing this out too much.

EDIT: Reading the spec, it seems pretty well equiped :-) I personally wouldn't have an issue buying an 1366 board, as there will be plenty of 1366 chips floating around that will get cheaper over time :-) I certainly can't remember the last time I had the very top spec machine, bar the 486dx2 66Mhz that I got many many years ago.

AMEN to this! ^^^

ive been around this forum for just over a month and i swear to god wen ive ordered my last part i wont be back until i need a new rig in many many years, unless im forced with a gun to my head.

i bet that half the ppl who hate the colour dont even have a window on ther side panel.

some of the P6X58D-E brigade must like the colors so they will attack the performance lol!

kid: "wow that army board looks cool, i want that"

ocuk forum hitman: "YOUR A FOOL I TELL YOU!! MONEY WASTING KID, ITS £7 MORE FOR STUPID LOOKING COLOURS BUY THIS OTHER OK LOOKING BOARD AND SAVE £7 SAVE SAVE SAVE!!!! CRAZY KID"

I don't mean to attack the board. It's like when Digital TV was being introduced and the switchover was announced. At that point people were bringing out TVs with digital tuners. At that point if I was going to get a new TV I'd get one with a Digital tuner (in fact that's exactly what I did).

I will say that I like this motherboard. If I was in the market for a 1366 motherboard I think my choice would now be between this and a Rampage 2 or 3.
Previously I would've gone for either the P6X58D-E or a Rampage board, but I think I'd prefer the Sabertooth to the P6X58D-E. I also prefer the colours of the Sabertooth (over the P6X58D-E, I do like the Rampage colours too), not that I would let the colour of a motherboard sway my decision.

lol.. I couldn't care less for the colour. Function over form in my book, and if it looks pretty in the process, it's a bonus :-) They don't go into detail about the military grade stuff though, which they explained more on that aspect.

But they aren't gonna switch off your PC, but they wil switch off analogue....

this is wot all the crap on this forum comes down to. weather it be about performance, price, heat or COLOUR lol
its just a smokescreen to cover up the real truth. that they r pi55ed off with ther own rig and cant see any1 come along and get better performance with nice colours for a better price. its just bitterness in the end.

this is not personal with you Googaly im sorry i just seen an example and had to point it out ;)
