ASUS X58 SABERTOOTH TUF MOTHERBOARD AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER

have this board all set up with a new 950, no ram yet thou (hopes Monday )
any review have read , all seem to like it, cant w8 :)

I was very interested in this board myself and nearly decided to get it as part of a complete PC upgrade. My need for the board is to use 2 GTX480 (2x16) plus 1 spare PCIe x4 lane for either a dedicated PCIe x4 RAID card or perhaps get the OCZ IBIS which need a spare x4 lane. However, after carefully reading the manual at the ASUS site on the m/b, it looks like I will not be able to run x16x16x4 but only x16x8x4 or x16x16x1. Can anyone confirm this?

Looking at the review linked above it look's like 16x, 16x, 4x.

Below passage is taken from the manual, which is what is confusing me.

Now when I read it (not an expert) it looks like when I SLI this board, the 3rd slot become x1?

EDIT: now that I have read it about a dozen times I think I misread it, I think it means if the 2nd PCIe X1 slot is occupied it take the 3rd PCIe 16 lane x4 down to x1, not the 2nd PCIe 16 lane x16 slot (beige). Is that correct?

The first two x16 length slots run at 2.0 x16 bandwidth no matter what other cards are installed. The third x16 slot runs at 1.1 x4, or 1.1 x1 if the x1 slot above it is occupied. :)

...I can't believe some of the negative comments in this thread about the board.

I was speccing out a x58 system and this mobo was my top choice! Take a look at the reviews, it clocks very well and has all the stuff you would expect from a high end beefy motherboard except unnecessary flamboyant colors....

Ah, so I could run 2 GTX580 SLI'ed (at max x16) and use the last 16 lane for a PCIe x4 Raid or Ibis card? As long as I do not occupy the previous PCIe x1 slot with lets say a PCIe soundcard?

finaly got mine set up yest, 4gz was so easy, ran prime 5 hrs fine with temps around 63-66c with my old h-50.

will try further today.

very impressed with board so far, plenty room, nothing that's close together, runs cool.
also for some reason would not show 6gb up in bois after 2-3 start ups, but showed up in cpu-z ect. board has a memory compatible button on it, 1 press & sorted ram prob :)

glad i went for it so far

1 prob i have, but aint boards problem as had it on my 775 mobo as well.
my ssd drive when booting pc, does not always show in bios for some reason.
can take 2-3 trys sometimes, any help with this prob any 1?

Sounds silly, but have you tried changing the cable?

well after checking up on my ssd, seems not just me , but loads have same problem with the Corsair Reactor 60GB + 120gb series of this drive, found out today that corsair know about this :( rma time me think

Yes, as long as the IBIS or RAID card is happy with PCIe 1.1 2.5GT/s bandwith. If you need to use an x1 slot you can use the one nearest the CPU.

Got my Sabertooth all setup now but for some reason cannot get 4ghz stable.

All seems to be fine, passes linx tests and then it just randomly crashes.

Have you guys got any settings that you would recommend for 4ghz ?

I have an I7 920 with 1600mhz memory by the way.

Thanks
