At the risk of doing a Mikehiow...

Nowadays Josh its not realistic for someone of your age to be buying and selling on cars on the side.

I see you have thought about getting a trade policy on numerous occasions, is it more a case of you just want to drive something different all the time or do you genuinely want to try and make money by doing so?

I think the problem here is that for 3k you are at the top of the interesting tree with what you have got.

You really need to save a few quid in order to go anywhere better.

Yep, I cant think of anything especially interesting for 3k that would keep you amused

Keep it, find something else to do to keep you amused so you're not thinking about changing cars all the time, enjoy it when you can

Guess it kills two birds with one stone, I have something new to smoke about in and get a little something on the side. It's something that I really want to try in the future, but as you say, the age and fact that I live in pits of South London perhaps won't inspire the most confidence in buyers. That, plus the type of cars that I'd personally choose to drive are almost certainly not going to be the ones that'd sell, but I'd be willing to compromise there.

(P.S, don't tell any one on F.C that I started another one of these threads! Especially not Russ!!! :D.)

Trade insurance at your age for your purpose on the sort of cars you'd want is going to be impossible.

Not impossible, just £7,500. That's still with a 2.5L cap! That was when I was fairly new to driving though.

I'd look into the logistics of constantly chopping and changing my private insurance to new cars every few weeks or so.

Imprezas are absoultely mental to insure. Typical boys car. That's where I think I got "lucky" on the Soarer - Almost every single member of the owner's club is old enough to be my dad :D

Cars I've been considering, and my thoughts right now:

Omega V6* - Cheap, fairly decent RWD barge.
Jag XJ8* - Really like these but don't think it's quite the right car for me right now.
MR2 Turbo - Were high on the "next car" list a while back, but I've gone right off them for now
BMW E30 - I know them well. Rust and general "old car" issues put me off (my last one was a shed that soured the ownership experience.)
BMW E34* - I know them, I like them, but I can't have the big 4ltr V8 which I'd love given the choice.
BMW E36 (328i) - Probably the most ideal car on paper, but going from my father's 323i they seem a bit dull.
205 GTI - Been there and done it, but I know them fairly well. About as close to a "runabout" as I can go without wanting to kill myself.

*I've promised myself more track days and these cars are perhaps not the best for that purpose.

Of course knowing me, this'll all change in the morning. I seriously need to get this problem sorted out.

Endless fun with modifications and what not on a 200 :)

Quite probably, but I dont see how one 90s Jap coupe thing is going to hold his attention any better than another 90s Jap coupe thing

The problem isnt the car, it's the way he's thinking about cars. If he just wants to change every month for something else vaguely interesting then that's fine but it's not really something many people here can help with. I'd agree with the sentiment that he should save some cash and get soemthing really good in a year or 2

How old is Joshy? Mine is damned reasonable but then I do not live in a warzone (nb, don't know if Joshy does either but still...).

Joshy will be counting it in the thousands in London on street at 21.
