ATI 3870 or NVIDIA 8800GTX

OK the 3870 specs are looking good and with a saving of upto £300 surely it has got to be the best bang for buck graphics card for the moment.

Even with 2 in crossfire it's still £100 cheaper approx and must beat a single 8800GTX hands down???

When will NVIDIA bring out their next gen cards (9*** series) to compete with ATI?

You should really be comparing the 3870 to a GT/GTS, as they are all mid-range refresh cards.

2x3870s (£300+ inc VAT) are actually dearer than an OcUK GTX (£278 inc VAT):

Afaik, the 9*** cards are due in Q1 2008

one 3870 is the same performance as a 2900xt. so depending on what u want , faster performance or less power/heat..

8800gt = faster performance
3870 = less power/heat
