I borrowed an 8400GS from work last night to have a go on my crossfire board

followed instructions online that mentioned extending desktops etc and then removing DVI from ATI to make the Nvidia think its alone and enable PhysX blah blah blah

Bottom line.....after 2 hours, couldnt get it to work :(

Anyone else tried and succeeded? and is it worth the hassle?

I am starting to think i might just wait to see if the ATi "edited" drivers ever appear.

Win 7

see i thought the only OS that got upset was Vista, as people have been testing Vantage with it on and off?

It used to work on Win7 (I played through Mirror's Edge with a 4870 and 8600GT), but nvidia's recent drivers disabled multi-manufacturer physx. Rather ****ty of them tbh, but there you go.

If it's any consolation, an 8400GS would really struggle with physx - an 8600/9400 minimum is required if you don't want a stutter-fest.

lossely related but;

If i wanted to play batman on my 8800gts 512, would i need a dedicated physx card to be able to run it with physx enabled? Because i notice the specs say you need a 9800gtx+ for recommended and i dont want to have to run down the gfx just to use physx.

pretty sure it should just let you use PhysX mate.

found a place that do the PCI PhysX cards for £30. tempted just to do that lol.

NV decided to stop supporting the Aegia card ages ago. The newer runtime versions (which are required for titles such as Batman) do not support acceleration on those parts.
