How much of a upgrade, if any would I get from a ATI 6950 2GB CU-II to a ATI 460 4GB? There isn't much info if I do a google search apart from tech specs. Not ready to spend £250 on a GPU as I'll wait for freesync/g-sync to settle down

Gaming at 1900x1200 I like high settings but I've been using no AA as the 6950 doesn't cope too well once you apply AA (apart from FSAA which doesn't look great)

My GPU copes pretty well with latest Tomb Raider and Witcher 3, and WOT & WOS, but framerate on those two first games is getting a bit low say around 35fps I guess (not that it needs high fps) and about 50-60 with War Thunder (and I have vsync) Everything maxed out on those multi player tank/plane games.

not sure how much gain you are going to see at a resolution like that tbh

Do you have access to the members market? as a second hand 970GTX might be a better shout at around £120

How desperate are you to change? May be worth a wait to save a bit more towards a 480? Or maybe a 470?

I don't need to save, I could easily buy a 470.

6950 is giving me BSOD and ATIMPAG.SYS lock ups, black screen, sto 00000119 1bacc and it's getting on my nerves locking up pretty often

Yeah I would say definitely go with 470 over 460. I just used the GPU user benchmark linked above and it shows my 7850 performs closely with a 460 which surprised me. If I was moving to a new card I would be looking at 470 as my ultimate value for money, then if wanting to get a bit more performance 480 or 1060 if I felt happy to spend the extra. I would only really be looking at 6gb 1060 myself as in a test I have seen somewhere 3gb was pushed hard at 1440p I think. Although I don't use above 1080p you never know when you might upgrade one day. I have heard that AMD keep updates going longer than Nvidia so for longevity AMD might be better choice if you are keeping it a long time.

It wouldn't be that much of an upgrade to be honest, as said above going with the rx470 would be a much better upgrade, and at the resolution you play on the 4gb GPU will be plenty too
