Hi All

I have just been looking on the ATI web site and I have
noticed this about my 9800 Pro 256mb spec

Bus Type AGP 4X,8X
Memory Amount (MB) 256
Memory Type DDR2
Memory Interface 256-bit
Memory Clock Speed (MHz) 350
Engine Clock Speed (MHz) 380
Pipelines 8

Now the issue I have is that in the ATI Control centre you can see that my memory clock is only set at 290mhz and also the Engine clock is at 324mhz this seems much slower, than the speeds above that ATI quote

Now I have just done a benchmark with 3D Mark 05 and the result is as follows

1024 x 786 32 Bit - 3d mark score = 2590

ATI Control Centre Settings that my Radeon is running at
Graphics Card Manufacturer Built by ATI
Graphics Chipset RADEON 9800
Device ID 4E49
Vendor 1002
Subsystem ID 0002
Subsystem Vendor ID 1002
Bus Type AGP
Current Bus Setting AGP 8X
BIOS Version 008.004.008.020
BIOS Part Number 113-A09403-100
BIOS Date 2003/05/29

Memory Size 256 MB
Memory Type DDR SGRAM / SDRAM
Core Clock in MHz 324 MHz
Memory Clock in MHz 290 MHz

My current settings in the bios are as follows
Configuire DRAM by SPD - Enable/disable Enable
CAS Latency 2.5/2Clocks 2.5
RAS Precharge 2/3/4 3
RAS to CAS Delay 2/3/4 3
Precharge Delay 5/6/7/8 8
Burst Lenght 4/8 8

I just find it strange that my speeds are much slower than stated

I have just downloaded ATI Tool
http://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/

I have just increased the memory to 350MHZ thats what ATI say it should be and so far no problems
Ran 3D Mark 05 again and scored 2852 Memory upto 340Mhz /
Core 350 Mhz - is there any safe way of changing the values in the BIOS so that the card is set to the correct speeds

MSI 865PE

Thankyou for taking the time to reply

I have had the card running at the correct speeds with ATI Tool would It be possable to flash the BIOS to a current 9800 pro bios or do you think it would not be worth it

It might not work mate the 9800 pro is a higher spec card for a reason. I would complain to who you bought it from
