Hi,

I heard a rumor that you will be able to run differant model cards on the crossfire. For example;

PCI-e Slot 1 - HD3870 x2
PCI-e Slot 2 - HD3870

Is this true? and if so, when will the Catalyst drivers support it?

Yeah it will work like that with CrossfireX i think, you'll be able to pair a 3850 with a 3870 etc... , and they'll both run at their own speeds (3870 will not clock down to 3850), and you'll be able to pair 2/3/4 cards together, they just finishing off the driver to allow it as its not done yet. :)

It is called crossfire hybrid, it is one of the crossfirex features.
we don't know too much about it. amd has keep it quiet.

Atm the only thing we now for sure is that it will work with integrated graphics motherboards + standard crossfirex graphic cards. Hopefully it will work matching two cards too
