Some of these motherboards had reliability issues with drivers and bioses I think and some dont perform as well as NF4. Rumour has it that there will be a new ati Xpress chipset coming out when the x1900 series comes out
I've just got the Asus A8R-MVP and it's a very nice board (if a little plain to look at), but it overclocks well & runs very cool using passive heatsinks. My DFI NF4 Ultra-D ran the chipset @ 50°c even on a mildly OC'd 3500+ of 2.4GHz, whereas this A8R is now running at 2.5GHz @ 29°c. I got this because I didn't want another Nvidia based motherboard, especially in light of issues with the chipset when using RAID1. This A8R also supports RAID5, which could come in handy, although I'd prefer to use a separate card for that.
Currently about to try and RMA both my Ultra-D and my 2Gb Geil Value as they are both FUBAR, that being the 3rd set of quality RAM that has died in that board, the others being Corsair 4400 and Ballistix 4000, both of which never got near their rated speeds. Also that UD seems to have killed a PSU as well (580w Hiper Type-R)
TBH in hindsight, I've had nothing but trouble with that DFI, and I doubt whether I'll buy another anytime soon.
Wait for the RD580 Chipset, the new Asus Crossfire board with the new chipset is rumoured to be coming out around the same time as the x1900, Crossfire on the new chipset is much faster than SLi apparently.
The best board out at the mo for Crossfire is the Asus A8R that Biggus has got, leaves the rest for dead, wish id known before i got the DFi , still im just waiting for the new Asus board now.
