I'm looking to upgrade my Graphics cardl, my rig is as per my sig and i have a Samsung 930BF 19" Monitor

Which would people recommend the Ati X1800 XT 512MB or the new Gainward BLISS GeForce 7800 GT "Goes Like Hell" 512MB

Any help/opinions appreciated :)

i too have come across the same situation, i personall have gone the ati route as it's slightly cheaper (well i picked mine up from the mm at £245) and i'm pretty sure the 512mb x1800xt performs slightly better than the gtx 7800's so kind of swayed my vote.

1 thing to consider is that the nvidia's hold ther price better than nvidia

Why consider buying the 1800XT 512??? If you're spending somewhere near the £300 mark fork out £100 more and get the much faster 1900XT-X ;) If you still want 1800XT,save the money and buy the 256MB version @ £234 (that's what I did), I don't see the point of spending over £300 and not get the 1900XT-X.

HI there

The X1800 XT's will score better in benchmarks and place most games better.

The Gainward will however be quicker in some games due to the clock speeds and 512MB of memory.

Both are good cards but my money would be on the X1800 XT 256MB as those are only £199+VAT from OcUK. :D

Had no intention of spending over £300!!

The X1800 XT i would buy 2nd hand and there going for about £250

The 7800GT Goes like hell card is £265 at the moment.

Cheers Gibbo, what sort of performance increase will i notice?

I currently have a Sapphire GTO2 which has been modded to enable the extra pipes and is running the X850 bios and clock speeds

I can agree with that! Got myself one of these and it arrived today, it's an absolutely amazing card!

defo go for the x1800xt 512, can pick em up like you said cheap enough and they blow 7800gtx's out of the water, trust me i sold my bfg 7800gtx oc 256mb for this and this thing is awesome, flash it to pe bios and it keeps up with the 512mb 7800gtx and even beats it in some games.

Yah your right there hannibal! I must say the PE bios makes like no difference on the temps as on the standard cooler I am now hardly hitting over 75 degrees load! :D Awesome performance from an awesome card, you just cant beat it one bit!

As Gibbo said too, the x1800xt 256 is a gd price 2!
