Just got hold of a old pc and thought i would rob the x1300 512 mb pci-e card out to put into the nephews pc,replaceing a x800 256 mb card
Trouble is it gets a lower system rating in W7 than the x800 card
That can`t be right can it?
tried updating the drivers also no joy,get about 4.6 with the x800 and 3.6 with the x1300:confused:
Anyone throw any light on this?
(p.s. i know the W7 rating is not the be all and end all of rating systems but surely the 1300 card should be higher than the 800 card?)

An x800 is more comparable to an x1600, an x1300 in terms of "raw" performance is quite lacking compared to an x800.

The main difference is the Shader Model 3 support, or lack of when it comes to the x800.

So basically the 800 whips the ass of the x1300?:D
Bit confusing(for me) to use a higher number for a poorer card
800 going back in then?

More recent games will need the shaders 3.0.

If your not playing anything recent, stick with the 800, if not you'l need the 1300. :D

Well the nephews watch you tube and play stuff like serious sam and some online flash games so i suppose either card would be fine
Thanks for the comments people :)

The first number is just the generation, the whole number means nothing in terms of performance.

For the x800, the x stands for "10" as it came straight after the 9000 series.

When a 5300 comes out, it doesn't mean it'll be high performance, it just means that it'll be DX11 and follow other specifications relating to specific features, the "5" will be absolutely meaningless when it comes to performance.

The "top" or one of the "top end" cards of a previous generation will always be better than or at least equal to "up to" the mid range card of a new generation.
