Ati X850xt to a x1800xt

Hey guys,

Would i see an improvement going from an x850xt at pe speeds to a x1800xt 512mb card?


I game at 1360x768 with all eye candy on. On my 32" sammy tv.

Whats your verdict? Would i see a nice improvement?

Very Nice IMprovement mate ;) Think about it, shader mark 3.0 is supported in these cards so any games that use it will look infinately better. You will be able to max out everything just look at my Sig below and I can do just that myself :D the smoothest of smooth framerates really :D awesomeness, you wil defo see an improvement
 
In FEAR you would go from 30fps+- with 2xAA 4xAF to 60fps+- 4xAA 16xAF.

Most other current games you would go from 40-60fps 2xAA 4xAF to 90fps 4xAA 16xAF.

I went with a 1680x1050 20" tft over a bigger lower res one and the X1900XT to power it but I am sure your combo looks nice . :)
 
You will indeed see a nice performance increase, I went from a X800GTO2 (At over X850XTPE speeds) to a X1800XT and the performance difference is quite dramatic.

Another adition is the inclusion of sm3.0 compliancy however I notice no difference in how far cry looks with the sm3.0 path than it did with the sm2. path (on the X800).

But supporting extra features is a good thing so the X1800XT wins out on all fronts.
 
Thats a bit overkill for 1360x768 mate the x1800 would have been the one to get maybe even the 256 version but oh well you can run 6xAA 16xAF lol. :)
 
just thought sod it the extra wha 40 notes isnt that much, plus i am sure the 512mb will let me hold onto it that bit longer when the vista switch comes about ;)

probably mega over kill considering i only really play wow and bf2 now n then.

just hope my shuttle sd31p will cope pmsl probably not

any ideas if this will run ok in my shuttle sd31p, its currently running 3 x 250gb hdds, dvd burner, and my 3.2 clocked at just shy of 4ghz with my x850xt from what i hear the x850zt draws more juice than the x1900xt so it should be ok right?

not to worried if it doesnt, looking to upgrade very soon anyways.
 
You'll see an absolute huge improvement going to the x1900 XT 512mb from the x850 XT PE, i went from an x800 XT PE to the x1800 XT 512mb, and i was blown away by the performance increase, was incredible. :D
 
it's funny, i usually get suckered into upgrading most generations, but i'm honestly happy with my 850xt for now. Don't think i will upgrade for at least another 9 months. Then again i only run at 1280x1024 for now I'd be interested to hear what you think though. :)
 
Snow, i will be only running it at 1360x768 for a couple of months whilst i get all the money together for my new setup.

Thats assuming it will run at all in my shuttle lol.

But the shuttle psu's are a lot better than standard psu's so it should be ok.


Reason its at that res is i use my 32"" sammy tv as my monitor at the moment.


Will update you though on how it goes.
 
I run at the same res as you and used to have a heavily overclocked X800GTO2 (16 pipes, 645/660) and I have noticed a great difference in performance compared to the X1800XT I have now.
