'Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed'

That's all a bit extreme and if it was purely a driver issue doing that on anything that required 3D clocks then it would have been all the net in no time.
I hope your not running any other gfx sortware like Afterburner, trixx..ect..
It's a fresh install, no custom software - it definitely is a driver issue as these drivers (which are rumoured to be CAT 12.5) work perfectly.

Whatever driver you were using, the issue you were having was not common at all is my point, the odd random here and there is one thing but what your were having was not and thats not even going into CF and Eyefinity so its very likely specific to your rig with a particular driver.

Possibly was a combination of my hardware and drivers. It's not an unheard of problem, there's quite a lot of forum threads about the same issue - other people, such as Cannon_1981 have variations of it. I guess it just manifests in different ways, either way these new drivers seem nice and stable and hopefully whatever the fix was - amd will implement it in their next official driver update

CaNNoN_1981 issue is more in-line with what's going on with idle and sleep issues and not BSOD as soon as any 3D clocks are run.

Everything appeared to run smoothly, successfully completed benchmarks on Heaven and 3Dmark, games appeared to be ok, WOW, Fifa12, Res Evil RC, Portal 2 etc.

I would contribute at http://forums.guru3d.com/index.php if i were you as its more likely to get picked there by official beta testers as well as http://www.rage3d.com/board/.

Update: well my PC has now been stable for 4 hours this morning with these leaked drivers so all appears to be well, after trying the 12.4, 12.3, 12.2's etc and experiencing constant BSOD's while idle.

I hope a fix is found for the official 12.5's or I may just have to stick with these for the foreseeable future....

Just so I'm clear, is this in reference to the leaked Drivers I am currently testing? as your quote from my first post is while I was trying the official Cats....

It was for Robozilla as it seems his issue is potentially more serious and to show that yours and his is not really the same as you can play in 3d for sometime before a random crash while he gets it instantly.

Hola, it's me again. Seems these new drivers weren't as good as i thought: the insta-crashing was fixed in some games but just as bad in others. I formatted again to make sure it wasn't a bad install but still have the same issues. I contacted Overclockers to see if they'd take the wretched things back but alas, i've had them longer than 28 days (my pc build was on hold due to various reasons so the cards sat around doing nothing). I don't blame ocuk but it does mean i'm left with 2 near-new cards that my PC hates. Individually they work fine, but that's not why i bought 2 of them. Guess it's time to sell them off! VIVA NVIDIA!

As Fin said your issue appears to be much different than mine, the people on the other forum with similar issues to mine seem to be cured and (touch wood) I've not had an issue yet.

Yeah, definitely know mine is a more serious issue. Clearly a deep incompatibility with my motherboard as the cards work fine on a different one i tested. Frustrating, none the less.

Yeah i did, an Asrock Extreme 7 Gen 3 - worked fine. I'm using a Z77 G1.Sniper 3 in my own machine and it seems to disagree with these cards. I'm running the latest bios so no avenues to go down there.

The issue may lay entirely with your motherboard than the cards. The fact they work perfect in another machine kinda proves this. Might be an idea to looks at a motherboard solution rather than jacking it in with the cards.
