What should i expect to pay for an one of these (as title)

Im looking for the 2.6 with a 5 speed. Preferably lowish milage, but over 100k might be okay long as its not astronomical. I have a couple in mind, and found one at only 70k.

Im just curious as to what i should expect to pay, and what to look out for with these? Anyone here had one, and what was it like?

Cheers :)

Any reason for wanting one as servicing/running costs etc are pretty high for what will be an old car. What have you found so far. nice cars though but need to be cheap.

Just sorta grabbed my fancy and one has come up very close to home.

I had a 1992 bmw 525i SE auto, i would imagine the running costs were similar?? I was also hoping to rely on legendary audi reliabilty to negate any problems, and do basic servicing/repairs myself :)

Is it a bit of a potiential money pit?

You were lucky with that E34 - well not that luck as its now dead and you dont seem to be fixing it. Personally when stuff like an A4 gets to that age it isnt worth the running costs - it isnt anything special, just an old FWD Audi.

I see. I was very up for fixing the BM, until i was told by lots of people its a mother of a job on the M50 engine. The Volvo is now going to be written off it would seem, so im potientially car-less when its written off, as they will take the hire car back then! So, its either take the money, get the BM fixed (probably beyond being economical now!)

Or sell the BM broken/sell off the nice bits separatlely. Take the money from that and the written off volvo and see what i can get for about a grand :D

I always enjoy your little "project bangernomics" cars Malt! Sell all the bits you can, and get something "interesting" again :D

Old S13 200SX maybe?

Hehe, i do try to keep things interesting :D

I have been nosing about on egay and seen a few interesting things pop up, this audi was just one of a few. Couple of old MX-5s have looked interesting, but i know next to nothing about them. So, i need to read up a bit, but could be good fun :D

I'd say the Audi could well be a massive money pit if you aren't careful, firstly old A4s aren't that reliable anymore, high mileage combined with expensive servicing isn't a great combination as a lot of cars were probably owned by people who tried to cut the running costs by not servicing their car properly.

Secondly it's my experience that Audis (and a lot of modern VAG cars) are absolutely horrible cars to work on, everything seems to be it the worst place possible and even simple jobs can take forever to finish because so much stuff needs to be pulled out of the way first.
