Audi owners in here!

This car sounds like a disaster, did you buy it from a dealer?
Private. It was cheap though so I did budget for repairs. There are just more than I would have liked.

You could argue that I should've just spent more in the first place and bought one that didn't need any work, but then you're looking at least £5k more for the same spec.
So far I've spent £1500...

It's looking like a lemon but I can't flog it with this racket now as no one will buy it!

He has a £10k budget which he is finding struggles to afford him a nice S3. How does he need to look at the TTS? They are even more money...
Just pointing out the reason TTs are cheaper than the S3, they're not directly comparable, the S3 was the top end of the A3 range, standard TT would have been cheaper, unless you spec'd them right up.

Got another opinion on the horrible clattery noise - AC compressor on its way out.
Audi mechanic reckons it's that because you can feel the liquid being pumped irregularly through one of the pipe.

Working in Sweden for a few weeks and got a lolquote of £1500.
He seemed pretty confident it was the AC compressor but I was hoping it was the aux belt tensioner :(

The AC compressors are poor on this platform. Look for a replacement Sanden compressor as these ones don't seem to fail like the other brands, they seem to be obtainable for about £350.

Hi All,
just wanted to say I've ordered a 2.0 A4 Black edition 177 Audi. I'm quite excited it being my first Audi/luxurious car. Coming from a hatchback since I first started driving. hope to get the car in the next week or so

I've finally joined the Audi club after a very long wait of 6 months since ordering!

This arrived today :D

It's an S Line Ultra model, which was the main reason for the delay as I'd originally requested the 177PS model but then the Ultra 190PS model was announced and the leasing company decided to hold out for this instead.

Anyhow I'm glad the wait is over and I'm very happy with the car, its surprised me how quick it is for a 2l 4 cylinder diesel!

I didn't get any extra options as they quickly made the lease deal I got not worth it.

Is it seriously an 'Ultra' model?

I was joking the other day when I guessed Mercedes would call the next 4 cylinder diesel model the AMG SPORT PLUS ULTRA :D I had no idea Audi actually had!

What's Ultra about an Ultra then?

I think it's what Audi call their eco refinements (Euro 6 engine, Adblu, economy tips flash up on the MMI if you put the car in eco mode). The engine in this replaces what was in the 2011+ models and I guess is just a bit more efficient (~65mpg combined apparently) even though they've boosted the power output.

You have to admit the model naming is getting ridiculous lately. All of them are guilty of it - BMW have M Sport PLUS, Audi with S-Line Ultra Black edition's with Amplified Black Pack's and Merc are probably the worst with mouthfuls like A180 CDI AMG Sport Plus...

10 years ago if you'd have heard model names like that you'd be wondering if it was some sort of 600bhp skunkworks project variant..

The Ultra replaces the old model so it doesn't seem like Audi are making a huge thing of it as the pricing remains the same.

Mercedes has to be the worst with the names, I had a look at a few MLs and trying to work out what was what from the model names was very frustrating!

To be fair they've been using the Ultra moniker on their LMP race cars for a while now and are obviously now starting to milk it for marketing their road cars as Ultra models are cropping up all over the range and, in some cases, are nothing more than existing models with an Ultra badge on the back (yes they even get a badge :( )

I, meanwhile, have just ordered my fifth A3 for which I'll likely get no end of abuse on here but whatever :p

You don't seem to-go an advert break these days without that Audi Ultra advert about how their race cars influence their diesel company car offerings!

Well as Audi pioneered diesel use in endurance racing and have won eight of the last nine Le Mans 24 Hours with a diesel, I think it's fair to assume that their consumer diesel engines have benefited quite a bit from what they've learned. Certainly a far less tenuous link than many manufacturers try to draw between their race activities and consumer products.

To me it looks like 'Ultra' is simply Audi waking up to BMW's 'Efficient Dynamics' moniker from 7 years ago. Looks like exactly the same thing, a collection of various stuff, some of which they already did anyway, that they can club together under an eco-name.

Sounds fair at first glance, but the BMW diesels see, to perform much better on consumer products.
