Private. It was cheap though so I did budget for repairs. There are just more than I would have liked.[TW]Fox;26571810 said:This car sounds like a disaster, did you buy it from a dealer?
Just pointing out the reason TTs are cheaper than the S3, they're not directly comparable, the S3 was the top end of the A3 range, standard TT would have been cheaper, unless you spec'd them right up.[TW]Fox;26571784 said:He has a £10k budget which he is finding struggles to afford him a nice S3. How does he need to look at the TTS? They are even more money...
Got another opinion on the horrible clattery noise - AC compressor on its way out.
Audi mechanic reckons it's that because you can feel the liquid being pumped irregularly through one of the pipe.
Working in Sweden for a few weeks and got a lolquote of £1500.
He seemed pretty confident it was the AC compressor but I was hoping it was the aux belt tensioner
You don't seem to-go an advert break these days without that Audi Ultra advert about how their DIESEL race cars influence their diesel company car offerings!

Well as Audi pioneered diesel use in endurance racing and have won eight of the last nine Le Mans 24 Hours with a diesel, I think it's fair to assume that their consumer diesel engines have benefited quite a bit from what they've learned. Certainly a far less tenuous link than many manufacturers try to draw between their race activities and consumer products.
