Audi Symphony hidden settings

I have an Audi Symphony system in my S3 (could be a Symphony II - it has the 6 cd changer in the unit at the front?) and I am trying to access the hidden equaliser settings to get an improved sound from the current setup (bass at the back, sound stage moved forward).

The net offers numerous posts on how to do this. As follows:

1. Turn off engine and remove key
2. Press and hold the 5 button and power on the unit
3. Screen should display "5555..... etc

but this does not work. I have tried all combinations and can access the settings for buttons 1 through 4 but 5 does nothing.

Can anyone here throw any light on this please?

thats wrong.

it should be (with key in)(car can be running if you like does not matter)

1. Turn off radio
2. Press and hold the 5 button and power on the unit
3. Screen should display "5555..... etc

OK. Let me try this

No - that did not work either.

Engine running - hold 5, switch on radio - no effect
Engine off with key in - no effect.

Any other suggestions?
