Audio-phile people what's your setup with Xbox series X?

It seems, the X doesn't have optical out.

Are people happy buying "MS" confirmed headsets?

Or are you using HDMI converter with optical out?

There is no way the actual X controller, can power a decent set of headphones directly.

This is the reason I feel the X and S has no Bluetooth or optical out, so they can make more money.

What are you guy doing?

:)

They have no Bluetooth audio output because it’s laggy even in the best case scenario and leads to a bad experience.

You don’t need audiophile grade headsets for gaming - you need something reliable and sounds good enough.

Hence, I plug directly into the controller to eliminate any risk of added interference, plus the new controller has lower latency than the old one :-)

I personally use Cloud Alphas - they’re a good balance between price and sound quality.

Atmospheric games such as Hellblade or Resident Evil benefit hugely from great audio.

Yeah I’ll give you that - I was only considering FPS games when I replied.

Not sure I’d ever spend too much on a gaming headset, though. I did for my PC as it doubles for music listening. But I’m very happy with the Cloud Alpha :-)

I'm using the new Turtle Beach recon wired controller and I've tried various wired headsets with it in "Superhuman hearing mode"
Quite impressed to be honest and it does help in games like Cod and Apex.

I'm no audiophile by any stretch, but can be a bit fussy.

Once calibrated well, the Xbox wireless headset does a really good job and I'm very happy with them. The only thing that would now sway me away from them, is if there's a legitimate contender for "dual use purposes". A headset that's a great Wireless headset for the Xbox, and a great noise-cancelling music headset to replace my Sony Xm3.

The Bang & Ulofsen attempted it, but reviews are mediocre for the price tag

I did have the Audeze Penrose X after all the glowing reviews, they were in no way, shape or form, worth double the price of the Steelseries. Luckily they do a 30 day return.

So far not a single audiophile has responded :D
Haha, thought the same thing while I was responding :D
That said, this is probably not the best audience for it and she might be best served on more specialised forums like AVS.

Besides, the statement "This is the reason I feel the X and S has no Bluetooth or optical out, so they can make more money." makes me strongly suspect that OP aint no audiophile either ;)

I have the Penrose, the PS5 version and they are absolutely fantastic. I also use them for watching TV/Movies late at night, and for music - IMO they're one of the best sounding 'Gaming' headsets out there.

My other headphones are open back Beyer DT990 pro's with a Fiio K3 headphone amp/dac.

Yes, for music they were undoubtably superior, they just weren't for me at the price. :)
