Audiolab / Arcam / Rotel amps

I started off with an 8000S, upgraded to using the S as a pre-amp, and a pair of 8000P's. Later replaced the P's with 8000M's, and then swapped out my 8000S for a Tag AV32R... I can honestly say for music the Tag processor is easily better than then 8000S, many say its as good as an 8000Q.

And as a bonus its a rather good 7.1 AV processor :) It certainy looks impressive with the rack carrying 8000M's for the front channels, and 8000P's for the surrounds. (Glad I didnt sell the P's when I bought the M's)

Hopefully pick up the the 8000A from my father this weekend and just won an auction for an Audiolab 8000P. So hope I won't be disappointed

Only thing I'll look at in the new year is a Meridian CD player

I used to have a trio of Audiolab amps (2x 8000P in bi-amp, and a 8000Q).. very nice kit if you have the right speakers :)

I've got an Arcam 290 Delta and added a 290P, this sounded fantastic on anything with a piano in it. Unfortunately the 290 Delta has started to crackle.
I was looking for dead one I could chop and change parts with, but even a blown one was going for £74 :(

I'm amazed these old amps still command such high prices when they must be 20 years old by now.

I'm hoping my 290 has some obvious failure like a few bulging caps
