It's great being in a country that celebrates its identity. Brings a tear to my eye or was that just the smoke from the barbie. All day all I've seen are Australian flags and people being proud of their country.

What's more you get a new Sam's speech:

Have a friend backpacking who is also enjoying it in Brisbane. Im going to miss it though! I fly out in a week! Wondered what it was when she text me this morning. So had an hour on google!

Happy Australia day to all you guys over there.

Was over for a month last year (not during Australia day though unfortunately), had a great time.
Have a few Coopers and Bundys for me :)

Happy Australia Day!

We have Canada Day over here, great for a day of work! I don't think it would work in the UK though (well maybe if everyone had an extra day off). I'd say it was against the tradition of British people to be quite so openly magnanimous about the country and wave flags everywhere. Maybe there could be a whole day off to moan about the weather instead :)

I was out with some friends on Saturday night, 3 of whom had decided to celebrate Australia day, and wear their hats with dangly corks. We had quite a few free drinks and a lot of comments etc.
Was a good night!

Q: What's the difference between a yoghurt and Australia?

A: Leave a yoghurt long enough and it will develop its own culture.

Happy Australia Day. :)
