Hi guys, basicly i have the P5N-E SLI with 8gb ram and Q6600

basically it refuses to sleep, it will turn off the screen, case fans go off but it will instantly come back to the desktop

it has done it since day one and I am thinking motherboard fault, I have updated the bios and changed some settings but still no joy

any one got some tips?

thanks!

Hmmm. 2 or 4 RAM slots in use?
I don't have the board anymore otherwise I'd take a look.
It could be a USB device or network card causing it. See if there's some power setting in device mananger for USB stuff and network cards.

I had the exact same problem with this board when i used it a few years ago... turned out to be one of the USB devices bringing it out of its sleep state almost instantly... I went through device settings and made sure all USB devices were set to 'can wake up device=no' or something to that effect and all was well.

Just had a quick look... in hardware properties go through all the listed USB devices and make sure the box that says allow this device to wake computer is unticked on all the usb devices.

I have had a look thu device manager and looked at all the usb ports and they are greyed out so i cant tick the "can wake device up" :(

and all 4 ram slots in use, the board done it with 2 slots in use as well

Yes using windows 7 and logged as a admin

i do have a Logitech gx9 mouse, i will try disconnecting all of the usb devices and try again and let you know what happens
