Auto transmission oil & brake fluid service?

Local independent, recently opened service shop:
  • replace ATF, 0.6 hrs, 3.3L of Dexron III - approx £90
  • replace brake fluid, 1.1 hrs - Approx £110
  • didn't seem too familiar with the idea of flushing the ATF

Local Toyota main dealer:
  • drain & refill ATF - £89.30
  • drain & refill brake fluid - £59.04
  • would only flush ATF if the drained fluid was very dirty

Think I'll play safe and go to the Local Toyota main dealer

The prices from that independant are astronomical.

To give you an idea, my last brake fluid change was a year ago this month. I paid £58.

At a BMW main dealer. For a 5 Series.

There is no way you should be paying anything like these prices for brake fluid change in a 12 year old Carina! It makes no sense.

I'd be suprised if you couldnt get the brake fluid done for 30 quid at a backstreet garage. It's a £500 Toyota, exactly the sort of car you should use backstreet garages for - surely the entire point you still have it is for minimum cost motoring?
