Also, what I don't get is why did Toyota not notice that? I was there when the local mechanic (team of 3) were looking at the car and one of them spotted it and it seemed like quite an obvious place to look... it wasn't hidden or anything.
Is it worth complaining to Toyota saying that the part must have been faulty in the first place, because every mechanic I have spoken to so far says it should not have failed in 36,000 miles (the car was bought new in June 2005 and has a full service history from Currie Motors where it was bought).
