Hi friends,
I have an Auzentech Prelude soundcard in my XP Home SP" based system. Yesterday it simply stopped working for no reason. I emailed Auzentech support and received the following reply...
"Thank you for purchase of Auzen X-Fi Prelude 7.1.
We are aware of this issue and it can be classified as ‘Driver bug Issues’. We have updated the driver on RC1.1 patch. Please download the RC3 with patch driver at our website. Try installing both driver and patch one by one.
We are working on the driver continuously and the Beta driver with Dolby Digital Live feature will be released in early Dec*. It will solve the issue and make your PC more stable.
We appreciate your support and patience."
By the time I got this reply I had already taken the Prelude out of my system and re-installed the onboard sound drivers. Having taken all the usual trouble shooting steps I thought I was looking at an RMA. Apparently this "Time bomb bug" somehow screws the driver software over time so that it simply stops working.
I post this for the benefit of any other Prelude owner who may discover that their card has simply stopped working. As for me I'm going to stick with my onboard sound until the new beta driver mentioned above* becomes available.
Sincerely,
