I look forward to hearing people's experiences with this card as I shall probably buy one. It would be so nice to read comments not limited to cod American adjectives such as "badass" "rocks" "sucks" etc. Such language sounds ridiculous in English accents, are naff in forums and informative only on the poor taste of those who resort to their use.:p:)

Coca Cola rots teeth regardless of racial background. I suspect that the terms mentioned above sound as ridiculous in Mandarin, French, Japanese, or whatever and conveys just as little about the object being described. Being a liberal minded sort of bloke I don't really mind what American teenage illiterates do to the English language in their own neighbourhoods as I have very little to do with them. However, I'd prefer not to engage in discussion with people who think it kool to sound like badass doods here. Call me prejudiced.

I bought the OCuk version of the GTX because it is the least expensive version of of the card. The main difference between it and similar but more expensive cards by third party manufacturers amounts to little more than the colour and logo and slightly more aggressive timings. My previous card was a BFG 8800GTS, which, at the time was the cheapest version of that card. The BFG came with a lifetime warranty but I tend to upgrade many more times than once in a lifetime. So I'm more interested in how speedy the RMA turn around is in the short term. I don't think I've ever owned a graphics card which died on me and I somehow doubt that BFG would be too helpful if five years down the line the 8800GTS died on me.

I think I made the best choice for me as I have the eccentric habit of spending most of my time on the computer looking at the screen. Thus my GFX card is invisible to me most of the time so its colour doesn't matter too much. Being super intelligent, I guess I may be able to discover the means by which to raise a couple of settings on the core and memory of the card should I feel the need or urge to do so.

To sum up this baby kicks ass.:)

Well, i bought one today to see if it fixed the 4gig issue with vista and it still does the same unfortunately

I kinda expected it with them still using Creative to write the drivers :(

Ive raised a ticket with Auzen, so i will let you know what they say

Have you installed the Vista 4gb memory address patch? That cured the feedback problem I had with my Xfi.

You need to install all of these:

Microsoft Hotfix 929777 (4GB RAM memory addressing problem)
Microsoft Hotfix 938194 (General compatibility fix)
Microsoft Hotfix 938979 (Overall performance update)

The first one being the most important.

It just goes to show Creative is TOTALLY useless when it comes to drivers. Plus slow as hell to rectify problems and release fixes fast.

Got mine yesterday morning from Oc to replace my faulty x-fi.

The build quality puts creatives work to shame when you see it for yourself in your own hands.

The sound & bass sounds noticably better due to the better opamps/dacs (music especially, havent had the chance to play games properly yet to comment on that part).
Being able to change the front opamps without modding is a nice touch too if your really into your music.

Being able to connect it up to the front of my case for easier access to speakers/headphones without the need for additional extras which I don't want is nice.

The flashing green light on it too rocks :p

I couldn't be happier with it :)

Got mine from OCUK Wednesday (finally but thank you) and yesterday i did reinstallation of my OS Vista Ultimate 64bit. I did all updates and used the latest driver from AuzenTech support web site - not the one on CD which came with this beauty.
First thoughts? Ahhh, good job AuzenTech!! Sound is about 20% better than with my old X-Fi Xtreme Music, i've had huge problems with BSOD's while playing BF2142 and now its all gone! :)
This card is pricey but well worth it!
Only one slight thing i dont like is that flashing LED. I have case with window and mirror on the bottom of the case so its just annoying. I'll get rid of it somehow later on.
If you looking for the best, here it is and it will just work with high spec PC's. Bye bye Creative!
10 out of 10

Hmm... dunno how then.

As it says:

The only thing thats new is the patch that was previously posted. Which corrects issues for 4GB Ram for systems.

Did anyone have issues with it at all installing it on Vista?

As this was what happened to me trying to update it the old fashioned way.

I had to manually install the drivers from the XP dir on the cd to get them to install on Vista. Vista's driver dir on the disc would give the above error. Thats quite messed...

Switched off the machine installed the card then popped in the cd and clicked install drivers from the little splash screen. Which the red x on the sound icon in the system tray remained after a successful install.

Installing it on XP was a piece of cake, Vista decided to be an ass about it!

I'm using it via optical and with the Creative Inspire 5.1 5700 decoder. I don't think I have any EAX5 games. The only recent games I have are BF2 and Tomb Raider Legend. I don't see any mention of EAX5 though...

Go to BF2 Sound settings and see if there is option Sound via X-Fi and Ultra High Settings! Your sound card must set to Game Mode.

I'd have to install BF2 again at some point. I had to switch to analog for the time being until Auzentech can get the drivers sorted. As there is some issues with optical which is a driver issue when no sound is playing.

With Windows .wav's the subtle sounds you can't hear and the speakers end up sounding like its getting switched on/off when these wav's get activated etc

It becomes quite annoying, which doesn't happen with analog.

Even analog sounds just as good as digital with the Prelude.
