I look forward to hearing people's experiences with this card as I shall probably buy one. It would be so nice to read comments not limited to cod American adjectives such as "badass" "rocks" "sucks" etc. Such language sounds ridiculous in English accents, are naff in forums and informative only on the poor taste of those who resort to their use.:p:)

Coca Cola rots teeth regardless of racial background. I suspect that the terms mentioned above sound as ridiculous in Mandarin, French, Japanese, or whatever and conveys just as little about the object being described. Being a liberal minded sort of bloke I don't really mind what American teenage illiterates do to the English language in their own neighbourhoods as I have very little to do with them. However, I'd prefer not to engage in discussion with people who think it kool to sound like badass doods here. Call me prejudiced.

I bought the OCuk version of the GTX because it is the least expensive version of of the card. The main difference between it and similar but more expensive cards by third party manufacturers amounts to little more than the colour and logo and slightly more aggressive timings. My previous card was a BFG 8800GTS, which, at the time was the cheapest version of that card. The BFG came with a lifetime warranty but I tend to upgrade many more times than once in a lifetime. So I'm more interested in how speedy the RMA turn around is in the short term. I don't think I've ever owned a graphics card which died on me and I somehow doubt that BFG would be too helpful if five years down the line the 8800GTS died on me.

I think I made the best choice for me as I have the eccentric habit of spending most of my time on the computer looking at the screen. Thus my GFX card is invisible to me most of the time so its colour doesn't matter too much. Being super intelligent, I guess I may be able to discover the means by which to raise a couple of settings on the core and memory of the card should I feel the need or urge to do so.

To sum up this baby kicks ass.:)

I've had my Prelude up and running for five days and I'm very pleased with it. My OS is XP SP2. The drivers installed with no problems. I have the Prelude connected to my Denon AV amp via a digital coaxial connection. I get 5.1 sound and DTS via the decoder in my amp (DTS NEO 6).

As far as I'm aware the Prelude drivers have yet to implement DTS, Auzentech has a November release date for these. I also understand that with the current drivers it is not possible to get more than 2.1 output via the coaxial connection. I believe that 5.1 at present requires analogue connections.

As for people's problems with the mic I have a strong hunch that this may be due to an inherent issue with the PCI bus. So many people have consistently had problems in getting reasonable mic output over a number of years and with different sound cards. I found that the only solution was to use a USB Mic. Even the built in mic on a Logitech webcam gives fairly decent mic output.
