Auzentech Prelude.

For those that have the card already are you having any problems with the mic?

Its barely picking anything up when i speak which is crap considering the price of the card.

Ive tried both xp and vista and the problem is the same.

i was thinking about buying this card. but im not so sure now if theres a mic problem with it

I should have my PC up and running on Saturday / Sunday, I'll let you know if there are any problems then.

Just for an idea: If all fails, use a USB mic which doesn't use the sound card so wouldnt be "quiet", but ive never heard of people having mic problems with it - might just be the mic?

The mic is ok works fine with a usb adapter which i had to buy,got a friend and his mic is really low also with his prelude.

Ive heard a lot of people complaining about the low mic volume, any known fixes for this yet?

Im looking to buy a prelude but been put off by this, I hope it can be solved.

I've had my Prelude up and running for five days and I'm very pleased with it. My OS is XP SP2. The drivers installed with no problems. I have the Prelude connected to my Denon AV amp via a digital coaxial connection. I get 5.1 sound and DTS via the decoder in my amp (DTS NEO 6).

As far as I'm aware the Prelude drivers have yet to implement DTS, Auzentech has a November release date for these. I also understand that with the current drivers it is not possible to get more than 2.1 output via the coaxial connection. I believe that 5.1 at present requires analogue connections.

As for people's problems with the mic I have a strong hunch that this may be due to an inherent issue with the PCI bus. So many people have consistently had problems in getting reasonable mic output over a number of years and with different sound cards. I found that the only solution was to use a USB Mic. Even the built in mic on a Logitech webcam gives fairly decent mic output.

I have DTS and 5.1 decoding on my Amp, would i be able to play movies with 5.1 and DTS via coaxial out? Or would i have to wait for new drivers??

Any update on an ETA for new drivers?

Yes, you will just output via spdif, the only thing we are waiting for is 5.1 for games over spdif via streaming to 5.1 (as far as I understand it)
