Hi all,

first ive been spent a lot of time and money doing a Gaming/man cave (somewhere i can sit and relax and chill out) helps with my mental health.
this isnt a big room, but its mine.
what i do in here - watch a lot of movies and TV shows, youtube netflix disney+ amazon prime you get what i mean :P
i also Game also PS5 and Xbox series X on the wall.

The TV is a LG C1, the system i have connected to it and VERY dated and dont like it. (it works) but NO.....

I have uploaded some pictures so you can get an idea of the size of the room ISH, Rear speakers if any would be mounted on the wall and maybe the front ones also i wont know until i have the new system in hand.
im thinking DOLBY ATMOS would be nice as the TV and consoles support it.

Things i have found on my own

i have my eye on this system - i dont think this is Dolby Atmos tho.

Yamaha RX-V4A AV Receiver & Diamond 5.1 Speaker Package, White

This one is also nice, and i know its dolby atmos but the AV is silver (crazy i know).

Marantz NR1711 AV Receiver, Silver & Diamond 5.1 Package, White

please let me know your thoughts, should i go with a sound bar because the room is small (yuck sound bars)

Please help a STRANGE guy out

Honestly i would rather buy new and have the warrenty. i know the room is small, but my tv is atmos ps5 and xbox series x is atmos, i can upload a better pic of the size of the room, and i dont need it to be the best system just do the job, make my movies come alive if you will. make the games sound as they are ment to sound,
ive saved up about £1200 for this system, i know it wont be mega. i just want it to sound good and look good..

Diffused speakers spread the sound out, ideal for surround speakers when you're close to the.

Atmos will add extra, to get full Atmos for £1200 is bit of a push.

I'm using a 9.2.4 system.

I'd go 5.1.2 or 5.1.4 in that room

Here's idea on pricing for full Atmos speaker set

Yea i dont need full atmos just a shortend down version. i take it 5.1 wont give atmos, as you would need the extra 2 speakers. second hand speakers are ok if you know what you are looking for (i unfortunately dont) i could settle for a 5.1.2 with a decent AV.

i was thinking more of a package deal tbh bud.. all this take is just frying my brain. Banana Plugs, sounds like something one should keep to the bedroom. forget the Atmos speakers sound a lot of hassle and its eating into money i dont have :(

been waiting to get a system for nearly 2 years now, i started with sound bars because of the size of the room and it seemed easyier, doing research i found that sound bars are not for me. i want the Av and speaker setup. maybe with some Atmos speakers (maybe) im in no rush for atmos atm (funds)

seems like it will be 5.1 and maybe add the 5.1.2 down the line.

so something like

Denon AVR-X1700H AV Receiver with Polk Monitor XT15 - 5.1 Cinema Pack + Polk MXT90 atmos speakers

is it good for me.. seems like it has everything i need. and only coming in at £1,248.99. is it a good system are they good speakers (never heard of them)

ive waited to long to be messing around with mags, i dont have 20 years to get up to speed. i dont need a WOW system, just something that sounds good, it dont have to be loud.

so stressful :(

Just checking out that Peter Tyson site and come across the

Denon AVR-X1700H AV Receiver with Q Acoustics 7000i 5.1 Slim Speaker System and free atmos speakers (Q Acoustics 7000LRi Satellite Speakers (Pair))

is it a good deal !

Maybe this?

Although if you are close to my rear wall and the standmoutns get in the way,.maybe instead of 9.1 as surround, use another pair of d3003d instead?

i do like them Wharfedales that possably just the right ammount is speakers i would need, what Av would you pair this with please.

also whats your views on this and what is a lifestyle system !

SORRY dont think i can link other sites here.

Denon AVR-X1700H AV Receiver with Q Acoustics 7000i 5.1 Slim Speaker System

Maybe one option is to get a budget system for now, cheap but still good live with it for a while, then add bits and replace as you learn about the hobby. Rather than blowing it all on a speaker system you may find wasn't the best choice, rather than make an expensive mistake on speaker brand you might not like.

Thiss get you uo and running for peanuts and pretty good 2.0 avr system. Add rears, and a sub live with it, replace avr, add Atmos speakers etc

i dont mean to sound ungreatful and i do welcome all the help i can get, but take a close look at them speakers. i wouldnt lift them off the street if i seen them.

The Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 HCP 5.1.2 Speaker Package, im very happy with, would just need the Av that would pair with them and meet my needs, Ie movies games, LG C1, Ps5 and SeriesX

Avrs have gone up in price,.budget models used to be £150-£250 and they're double or triple that.

I would recommend main speakers with 5.25" or 6" drivers, ones in the 7000 are pretty small so they'll lack dynamics. Also with drivers that small you'll need a better subwoofer. I'm using some q acoustics 3010i and they're nice little speakers but I wouldn't recommen them as main speakers they don't have the guts and range of a bigger speaker.

You didn't say what size room you have. A good subwoofer makes the system come alive. I've used subs from £40 to £2000.

If you are close to back wall (you didn't say how far) at least get wharfedale d3003d, so they're not sticking out into your head. If you're less than a meter to the back wall then diamond 9.2 standmounts aren't the best choice.

That's why it's sometimes better to buy individual speakers, as you might not like that specific component. Ie for that wharfedale system as an example you might want a svs pb2000 pro, and monitor audio FX bronze bipoles for surrounds instead. Also the q acoustics subs aren't very good so if you buy a q acoustics package you're lumped with it

Then there's things like avrs, each have their own type of room EQ. Denon and marantz get baking hot so that's a concern.

i get what you are saying bud, its not a big hobbie for me im just looking for something that works and sounds decent. i dont need it amazing. just better than what i have at Mo check pictures. its an old LG dvd 5.1 set, maybe a 5.1 speaker set with an Av reviever which i can add atmos at a later date.
i keep going back to the Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 HCP Walnut its a shame they dont come in white tho.

Thank you for all the help its very much Apprecited, i dont want to buy second hand speakers im not there yet, i only want a Speaker and AV package to suit what i need it for. i dont need it to be mega loud it will only be used to watch movies on my LG C1 play PS5 and Xbox series X. white speaker would be my best choice, if anyone could spec me a decend speaker and Av package that would semi do atmos and all that i need it to do.

remember from the pictures its a small room, front speakers would sit on my shelve and the back speakers would be mounted on the wall center speaker on the shelve also, av would need to be atmos but speakers could be brought at a later date.

thank you

Ive had a ten year old LG 5.1 bluray player system for nearly 10 years as seen in the picture. any upgrade would be a bonus to me. The LG system keeps failing sound cuts out all the time, the rear speakers are wireless and cut out all the time so they are just turned off. the system is just old.

i have found a few packages that i like.

Denon AVR-X2800H, Black & MASS 5.1 Speaker Package, White

Marantz NR1711 AV Receiver, Silver & 7000i Slim 5.1 Package, White

Marantz NR1711 AV Receiver, Silver & Spektor 2 5.1 Package, White

Denon AVC-X4700H AV Receiver & Diamond 5.1.4 Speaker Package, Black

i believe the Avs do what i need them to do, and as i said the speakers dont need to be loud as they will prob never go above vol 10

thanks

Honestly mate thank you, makes a lot of sence, i only like the white speakers because i think they would go more with the stuff i have but black ones would be fine as the ones i have now are black and yellow

i have been looking at

Denon AVC-X4700H AV Receiver & Diamond 5.1.4 Speaker Package, Black

apart from the 2 forward facing speakers and maybe center all others would be mounted on the walls.

just a rough drawing of my idea.. i could buy the AV seperate

i have a Bad case of OCD so buying things that are different and second hand realy messes with my head. everything has to be sort of the same and centered if you know what i mean.

again thank you
