AV receiver?

i have got a AV receiver - Yamaha HTR 5640.

is it possible to connect my computer to the receiver and connect the receiver to my monitor? this way i would be able to connect other items eg PS2 to the receiver and play it on my computer monitor.

the receiver has the following inputs/outputs:

i assume i would have to use vga to component to connect the video card to the receiver and component to vga to connect the receiver to the monitor, like the ones below

forgot to mention, ill be playing games. would i see a drop in performance (frames per second) or bad image quality?

Firstly, does your monitor have more than one input? For instance mine has DVI and VGA and then I can switch between the two. If so then using this feature would be easier than looping in and out of the receiver.

nope, only has VGA in, the Graphics card 7900GTO has 2 dvi out.

i wanted to do this as i have my computer audio connected through the receiver

would it work if i was to connect the video card to the DVD component on the receiver and then usde the Monitor out on the receiver to connect to the monitor?
