Avast users : How to get it to quarantine automatically when scanning?

Last time I manually ran a scan in safe mode, I came back to the PC after leaving it for 30 mins and 10 minutes into the scan it had found a dodgy file, popped up with a warning about it asking me what I wanted to do with it and sat there waiting for my response before continuing.

Don't really want to babysit the thing whilst it is scanning, would rather I could set it to scan and then walk away and come back once it is done. So where about in the settings do I change this so it does exactly that and quarantine's automatically?.

Ta.

Assuming you are using the new (and great!) Avast! 5.0...

(On the main Avast! window) Scan Computer > Scan Now (sub selection) > Select "More Details" below the scan you want > Settings > Actions > Automatically Apply Actions During Scan.

Cheers m8. Nah, I'm using the 4.8 Home Edition. Is 5.0 still in beta or has it been released properly?. I haven't checked the website for a while.

Excellent. I assume it requires a complete reinstall, as in 4.8 won't update to 5.0?. I'll go and have a look at their website. Thanks for the "heads up" that it's out fully now. :)

Just installed it and yeah - it does that, removes 4.8 automatically.

I'm liking 5.0 a lot!!. Looks great, much nicer GUI than 4.8 and loads more options. :D

Nice to see version 5 has been released. Returned to Avast on Monday and it was still version 4.8 on their website.

I've done exactly the same swordfish. Been running MSE for around a month now, no issues whatsoever.

I was using avast for a while, but have been for the last few weeks using Microsoft Security Essentials - anyone try that ?

I find even Avast 5 beta is better then MSE,Avast 5 uses a lot less memory resources, plus nice gaming mode options etc...anyway now its final even more reason to stay with Avast IMHO.

I used Avast for years and then started to notice how ugly the updating was. It would take ages at startup eating through insane amounts of CPU. Dunno if that was because they'd changed something or because I was mostly using a laptop. Also the Web Shield had a serious impact on browsing speed and quite frankly it all looked ugly :p So I switched to MSE which is light and very non-intrusive.

With 5.0 they have fixed ALL of those problems. It's like MSE in terms of system impact but with all the features like Web Shield etc. :)

Just updated to avast5, loving how all the services go to one process now and the memory usage is just 25mb! There used to be such an annoying memory leak or whatever it is with the older version, took up 70+mb after a few hours running for no reason.

I prefer the older interface though there is not much different in terms of options. I really dont like how the taskbar icon will have an alert icon on it if you change anything to something it doesnt like, for example, setting updates to manual only.

Im glad they got rid of this background iAVS or whatever it was (would always disable it before, but cant seem to find it in this version so hopefully they havent just hidden it).

One question though, this silent gaming mode, does it prevent autoupdates coming in whilst you are gaming? Thats the only reason I turn off autoupdate, because it always seems to update just as Im in middle of playing and the whole PC lags for a bit whilst that happens.

Is there not a setting to get around that?. I know it did that with the exclamation mark thing when I turned off P2P and IM Guard ( I don't use either ) but if you go into "Settings" and then "Status Bar" you can uncheck them and the exclamation mark on the taskbar icon goes away :-
