As has been said above, the film was based on the original Scarface film, and that was based on Al Capone. Admittedly, it's very loosely based.
TrueTony Montana is a cuban exile who becomes a cocain dealer in the 70s, Al Capone is an Italian mob boss bootlegger in the 30s :/
