avoiding using <br /> tags

I have some text boxes I want to appear on separate lines. I had done this using <br /> tags but have read this is not a good idea. What's the best way of doing this in CSS? I read that using clear:right; would do it but it does not.

Nothing really wrong with <br> but as said, use divs with margin/padding or P.

I use <br>'s personally.
