Awesome Sim only offer from Virgin if anybody is interested

Had mine 2 days now, pleased with it, switches between 3G and H speeds where i am, i get 4009 kbps down and 1968 kbps up, lot better than 2G on 02!

After 3 months, your classed as an existing customer, so you can get the cheaper deals they offer etc.

At 3G speed, means video and audio will work fine, it's only p2p which is throttled to the 348 , or at least that's how I read it.

Unfortunately I can confirm that it's definitely all traffic that gets throttled, I don't even use p2p.

Me too. It seems sensible. I am on the unlimited plan and use perhaps 2gb a month. If there was absolutely no FUP the unlimited £12 a month package would last about 5 minutes in the face of people signing up and downloading 8TB a month or something ridiculous, leading to the withdrawl of the package for everyone.

That's not at all the case. Three have no such issues, and if one were to argue that you meant at Virgin's lower price point then why advertise a service they clearly can't and don't provide? With tethering allowed and multimedia streaming it's not at all difficult to breech 10GB per month.

They should either disallow tethering a la GiffGaff or else increase the price in that case, perhaps with a separate tier. They're not only bigging up a crippled service but lying about it to customers to boot. Thank goodness for 30 day contacts and Three tbh...

Hey guys I just got a Galaxy Note 2 (GN2) and Im looking for a data plan (PAYG).

I have one of these Virgin offers shoved in the mail the other day and it sure looks good :)

I will mostly be on FB and doing a lot of net browsing and you-tubing.

Is this 1GB enough for all that sort of thing? My very first mobile internet-gizmo so a bit unsure where to start when it comes to data-plans and how big a GB limit I would need. Thanks :)

Is there anyway to stop the plethora of text messages virgin send out, about crap?
One every day since joining. About rubbish. It's peeing me off.

Virgin changed their T&Cs for unlimited plans on 24th Jan. You no longer get 10GB and new customers get no tethering.

Pay monthly:
For new & upgrading customers from 24 January 2013: No tethering

Customers joining after 25 June 2012 data limit before throttling: 3.5GB
Customers joining before 25 June 2012 data limit before throttling: 2GB

PAYG:
No tethering
Data limit before throttling: 3.5GB

See here.

In that case doesn't look like I'll be staying long. Back to giff gaff after this month, then maybe three. Unlimited and tethering please, even if its more expensive.

It is looking like Three's One plan will end up as the only game in town for tethering.

I would like to think 4G will change this but EE is not exactly inspiring confidence on that front.
