As per title really, I am about to renew my Orange contract and was thinking of getting the 9700. I just wondered if I am missing a much better phone.
I mainly just make calls, but wanted a keyboard (buttons or touchscreen) for texting/ emailing etc. Lastly, I will use for some internet, but the phone mustn't be too big, I hate having a fat heavy phone in my pocket.

What do you reckon is the 9700 for me ?

Awesome phone...ive had mine for a few weeks now and cant fault it...does what it says on the tin so to speak with minimum of fuss.

Excellent call quality...very small and light in the hand...pretty nippy as well...also has a trackpad which i find is a godsend.

For texting and emailing its probably the best device ive ever had the pleasure of using...its just so easy to type out a long-ish email or text without even realising it...thats how good the keyboard is.

Internet wise its not so great but it does the job for me...if you want a phone with great web browsing then iphone is your best bet.

For more info and views etc...head over to the link in my sig...biggest and best place for everything Blackberry.

Also remember you will have to pay extra for the Blackberry internet service which gives u push email plus internet browsing and blackberry messaging which is similar to msn messenger but restricted to blackberries only and goinbg over to the link in my sig...you will find a huge community just for BB's:).

thanks for your replies guys, Spawn you seem to be a bit of a berry nut, can you use other IM apps on the B berry like skype ? instead of using the B berry stuff ?

Hehe yeh in the past yr ive learnt so much about Blackberries via crackberry forums.

You can use other IM apps ie windows live messenger, icq, googletalk, yahoo and AIM...not sure about skype as ive heard rumours that they are developing an app for the BB's but nothing concrete out.

If you go for an Orange branded 9700 it should have UMA ie wifi calling but it still takes minutes out of your monthly allowance. Dont think any other uk networks support UMA other than Orange but id ring and make sure just to be on the safe side.
