Hello All
Just ordered myself a Powercolor X1800XT 512MB tonight :D

I have my 7800GTX (just arrived on saturday  ) and my 2 month old 7800GT both for sale to fund this bad boy.

The 7800GTX is still a kick ass card though but i hope the move back to ATI is the right choice
Well this is my 5th card in less than a year, It went:
Sapphire X800 Pro (popped it :( )
Sapphire X800 XL (got this on warranty to replace my X800 Pro but sold it within a week)
XFX 7800GT Xtreme Edition (got this to replace my X800 Pro really)
Asus 7800GTX (this arrived yesterday and was up for sale the same day after some pretty impressive results)
Powercolor X1800XT 512MB (these just seem like a complete bargain and couldnt help myself)

Will get some results when it arrives (hopefully tuesday)

Any thoughts?

Sam

Yeah your wasting money for sure, but if its any consolation Ive just gone from a X1900XT to a X1900XT-X :o Come on people start tellling me how much I am wasting my money! lmao! :)

Stick with ATI anyway, Nvidia drivers suck always having to use one driver or another just to play one game or another without having a bug or two.

yeah you waste money for one
How is that, i only went from a X800 Pro to a X800 XL on warranty and i only went from a 7800GT to a 7800GTX as it was cheap?

So is going from a 7800GTX 256mb to a X1800XT 512mb not a good move?

Sam

I had no problems with my 7800gtx's using 81.98_forceware drivers on all my games..

So which games are Nvidia drivers giving you problems with.

What was wrong with the GTX? Or even the 7800GT for that matter, especially if you're running on the 17" TFT in your sig?
Well i get all these parts through my uncle who has his own computer business therefore i dont pay VAT so i upgrade often therefore dont loose as much.
I take it all you guys are nvidia followers?

nVidia followers? You don't have to be an nVidia follower to say that going from a 7800GTx -> X1800XT is a pointless move, especially on a 17" TFT.

yeah of course. im running an ati gto2 and i recogonise that that is a ridiculous waste of money for the miniscule performance increase you have gained in those steps. Go nvidia

Well i appreciate your honesty ;)

At the end of the day whatever makes you happy is the main thing. :)

EverQuest, World of Warcraft, Half-Life 2, EverQuest II, Call of Cuty + UO, IL-2 + Pacific Figthers etc, I had to keep switching drivers just to play the games properly! I cant remember the drivers but it was quite a while ago, maybe there a lot better now. :( Nevermind though, dont have this problem anymore! ;)

I went from a 7800GT to an X1900XT and thats 31fps in FEAR to 67fps.

Going from a 7800GTX to an X1800XT would be 37fps to 55fps which is quite a nice increase. Thats at 1280x1024 4xAA 16xAF.

Don't forget with the newer cats the x1800XT is on par with the 512mb GTX which is quite a bit faster than a 256mb GTX.

I would have gone for the x1900 personally. :p

I wish i had the money to upgrade my gfx cards as often, but top cards always seem to retail for around £500 on release day, especially nvidia cards... :(

The X1800XT 512MB is the quicker card. Have fun with it now. :)
