Backing Up Emails in MS Outlook

Can anyone advise me how I would save/back-up my emails and folders in MS Outlook before a reformat?

If it's before a format you might as well just copy the main .pst file...

Sorry, should have stated that I'm a bit of a noob, and as such am unsure what exactly a pst file is, or where to locate it.

Anyway I'll have a go with the recommended program. As always, thanks for replying so quickly.

right click on outlook today, choose properties, choose advanced. It will then tell you where you pst file is located. Copy that file - it is all your e-mails.
