Bad Company 2 worth a shot?

I have put 350 hours into BF2. I love it and have played it to the death. On infantry only I absolutely owned and often came top of the round.

BC2 is better - Even with smaller maps (they are still big) and 16 players per team, it is very good,

BF2 will always be a favourite of mine but BC2 is 5 years newer and is better overall.

My only real gripe about BC2 is that the ranks are too easy to max out. On BF2 I could put in triple the time and not be max rank. On BC2 I am already rank 36 of 50.

I have to agree. I am not a great player by any means but am already rank 38 which has taken around 300 hours. I reckon I will hit 50 before 400 hours.

God knows how long it took me to get my 3 Star on BF2, but my stats are showing 214,000 points took 1870 hours.

Is this game exactly the same on the consoles? I know bf2 was completely different on the consoles. Also is there many mods for this game? I used to play operation flashpoint years ago and the modding community on that was absolutely amazing, Is there any other newish games that has a community like that?

borrowed it off a friend for a couple of days to see what my 5770 could do, and i liked the single player bit (bit repetitive, but hey...). didnt try multiplayer as i didnt wanna bugger his key up or anything

Seeing it at 12 quid ive got my finger on the buy button. However, can someone confirm the whole steam thing? if i were to enter the product key into steam, can i download a digital copy and keep it in my library? Im trying to reduce discs and desktop clutter lately by slowly porting my games to steam when they're on offer etc.

I always thought you could but having read up about it (google) everyone seems to be saying no only steamworks games allow you to do this.

Which sucks cuz it costs 30 quid on steam last time I checked.

You definitely cannot put the key into Steam.

Nothing stopping you adding it to your non Steam games list the chat overlay still works.

Just buy it. You will spend the first few hours on MP wondering why you did not buy it earlier. Trust me. ;)

Must get around to buying this at some point though I'd really only be paying for the single player. It may become my mp of choice but I can't see it myself.

OP:

There is a thread in this same forum with 18k replies and near 500k views.

My guess is its either a game loads of people hate and bad mouth it plenty, or it's decent enough to attract that much attention. :p

It's worth a poke for £12 these days.
