Bad films that should have been good...

War of the Worlds.

+1 million to this, all I will say is GOD DAMN YOU STEVEN SPEILBERG! to be honest though I don't think Tom Cruise was too bad in the movie, at least for his role in the plot, the kids were so freaking annoying though! the Tripods are simply the coolest looking movie 'villains' period in my opinion, it should have been an 18 rated, eerie, science-fiction / horror masterpiece, much longer than two hours long, bring back the heat-ray, its horrible and disturbing! bring the black-smoke from the book, the list for me goes on and on with this movie!

would personally of filmed it from a handheld style point of view if I was directing it, think it would give the story a terrifying and eerie perspective, to see it from street level if you will! :(

God no!

Handheld camera filming sucks.

think it has potential in certain circumstances, depends on the style and theme of the movie for me, I think there are parts of WOTW that could have been really eerie and shocking if witnessed from a first person point of view rather than the disjointed point of view it was seen in. I reckon combined with good sound effects the 'emergance' scene in the movie could have been done with much more 'impact' if witnessed from ground level, from the perspective of those seeing it, sometimes its what you don't see that makes the difference as opposed to what you do see, Cloverfield was very powerful in that respect even though so many people dislike it. the fact in the cinema we go from simply walking down a street to almost deafening screaming and gunfire is pretty incredible moment, imagine that but with Tripods and that horrible horn / black smoke! :D

Oooo and, Alien Resurrection - Got rid of the entire band of 'lovable rogues'. Just had Ripley, the android and that marine guy who helped them out. The premise was great, it's just that band of pirates were utterly cringe worthy and considering they were the majority of the main cast, the film was doomed.

Nothing wrong with Alien Resurrection until the last 10mins, then a half-decent film turned to a steaming pile of turd with the arrival of the alien baby

"Superman Returns" I so wanted this to be the Superman film I had always hoped for being a big fan of the comics for many years!!! :(

I have hope for the next Superman film seeing as Nolan is involved and Henry Cavil is taking over lead roll, but still have a dark feeling inside me its going to stink. :(

Some great trolling in here.

Having a go at 'The Departed' and 'Inception' is pretty laughable. If you think they're bad films you obviously don't watch many films.

Scarface!

wtf

most people seem to like it only 10.5% of votes rate it below a 7 out of 165,287 people which surely puts you in a minority seeing as 77.2% rate it 8 or higher

wierd cost the majority of votes on the imdb site are from people aged 18-29

im guessing most of them are above twenteen seeing as the next biggest age group of voters for the film is the 30-39 age range

*slap*

The Departed is brilliant.

My nomination goes to I Am Legend. Could have been so much better :(.

It's crap hollywood remake rubbish!

Buy the Infernal Affairs trilogy and watch them, you shall be educated :D

£23 for the dvd or £30 for the blu-ray set, stunning films and should be in any film lovers collection.

Jeepers Creepers - why oh why a monster.

war of the worlds - why oh why Tom Cruise

AVP - why oh why.

starship troopers 2/3 - just make more of the first, thats all it needed.

Johnny Depp's musical version of Sweeny Todd. Cut out the singing for a start

I loved it personally.

A lot of 'bad' films seem to be adaptations of 'good' books, like The Golden Compass and Eragon. I guess the only things to do about it would be to have a director that really appreciates what made the book good and can capture that, and make sure the writing stays as close to the book as possible.
