Bad news about my car (MOT)

Just been to pick the car up from the garage after it went in to get a few bits done for its MOT.

To cut things short, it didn't pass. In fact, I have a list as long as my arm of failures...

Serious corrosion - rear sill
Serious corrosion - seat belt mounting
Brake discs - scored
Engine mounting - unsecure
Rear strut towers - corrosion

I'm so upset right now. Stupid car. Can't believe I spent so much money on it for it to do this to me. Looks like I'm carless for a while then.

:(

Or maybe I'm lying and it actually passed first time round... NO advisories whatsoever!! Only thing that actually needed doing was the CV joint. 1 new driveshaft please. :D

See my thread about CV joints. A few of the bearings had actually decided to part company with the joint

I'll see what comes up. I'm going to hang onto this for now and will start saving money. Afterall, this car has cost me absolutely nothing in repairs since I bought it apart from the CV joint. Everything I've spent on it has been cosmetic.

Great, 12 months MOT, best time to sell!

Infact fox - Do you mean the above post as he should get rid because you don't like the car or have a problem with it, and its easier to sell with 12 months ticket?

Or do you mean he can get the turbo he's always wanted?

Mike, it's a Rover, it obviously suffers from HGF, it's so unrealible that my Grandad could walk to Scotland before I got my car running long enough to get there.

Desite the fact that it's a 12 year old Rover so is obviously crap, uncared for (as I've been able to tell with the general condition of the car), ripped to bits by myself and yet it still stormed straight through the MOT with no advisories.

Funny that isn't it. If I'd listened to these guys, I'd have bought a BMW and have been faced with a £400 service every 6 months. No thanks.

Not really, unless you do very high miles (20Kish) and drive a 540i or something of that magnitude, your Rover is a decent car but nothing out of the ordinary, so therefore shouldn't be particularly unreliable ;)

Very high miles? (Would say 40k or something per year is high, 20k isnt a lot imo)

Ive put 10k on mine in the last 6 months with the only problem occuring recently being it hasnt always started in the cold and damp mornings which seems to have been solved by new plugs which cost me a grand total of £4.32. :p

A car of that age's value and ease of sale is much increased with 12 months MOT.

How much did you pay for your Rover? I don't think anyone would reccommend a BMW for that price ;)

LOL. Didn't Top Gear try that once, with Hamster buying a 635CSL?

At least my car is in better condition than that! :D
