Band of Brothers or Pacific?

Pacific was not a terrible show by any means, but for me Band of Brothers is one of those which will age gracefully and always have appeal due to its heart-string story and delicate WW2 setting. An excellent series.

BoB IMO.

At some point I really need to finish watching The Pacific, just didn't do that much for me. Not because it was slow but because most of the action was in the dark and evern after about 4 episodes I still couldn't recognise most of the main characters. Nothing dulls your ":(" ness when someone dies/gets injured better than wondering if they were someone you had seen before/important.:/

EDIT: Seems I should read the thread fully, seems it's a bit of an issue with The Pacific. :D

It did get better by about the 8th or 9th episode (raid on the air base was great) IIRC but then it finished at the 10th so there you go. :o

Bang on! I've got BoB and Pacific on BR. I've just watched part 7 tonight and it is definitely getting better. The only problem with this is that it gets good too late. The other problem with Pacific is its big brother. Some TV miniseries called Band Of Brothers. You may have heard of it. It's quite popular. :p Pacific will never shake off the comparisons with its big brother.

BoB

Pacific was a let down, read both Pacific and BOB books first then watched the TV series, Pacific was devoid of anything good, zero anticipation watching it after reading the book, added in lots of extra stuff, plane recon/air craft carriers was great but no mention in the series its just the land assault, would have been great to see what they did in the air around the Pacific ocean, dont see why the couldnt with the budget they had, read BoB watched the tv series and mind was blown. nothing better than thinking about it then watching it happen, bit by bit and filling in the gaps from your mind from reading the bits missing.

Just finished watching pacific. BoB is head and shoulders above it. I couldn't relate to the characters in the same way as in BoB. Didn't hit me as emotionally as well.

Still worth a watch but wouldn't buy it until its reduced considerably

ditto.

I gave up on Pacific after about 4 episodes (as did my brother and father), it just didn't "click", BoB on the other hand has just been purchased on Blu-ray as an upgrade to our old DVD set (admittedly the blu-ray set was under £20:p).
