So, I've recently discovered 'Megson' (
) and I'm now on the hunt for more contemporary folk/decent acoustic stuff. I enjoy older more traditional folk also, so happy for that also.
Laura Pritchard (
) is another favourite at the minute.
So, anyone got anything good worth recommending?

Hi Ahleckz - like you ive pretty much fallen for the contemporary folk scene almost to the exclusion of everything else these days. And its a "scene" at the peak of health - there are just so many amazing talented artists out there right now.

I advise you very strongly to listen to Mike Hardings Folk & Roots show on BBCR2 wednesday 7pm (and also on listen again ofc), and also Bob Harris Country on Thursdays 7pm. Mike Harding has introduced me to so many great artists and bands that I genuineley feel like i owe the man a good few pints were i ever to meet him.

Also essential for me is internet radio Folk Radio UK (www.folkradio.co.uk) - they have a brilliant selection of contemporary folk mixed with more trad stuff.

But for me, the ultimate band right now are LAU http://www.lau-music.co.uk/ - with the incredible Kris Drever at the helm. You live in Glasgow - you might even catch them at Celtic Connections this week if youre lucky. Seeing them live was almost a religious experience for me.

Well, glad to find another folkie - esp on OCUK :)

Ah, cheers for the reply.
I'm already a keen listener to Mike and Bobs shows. Terrific stuff on there, it's where I first hear a lot of the stuff I listen to.
Will keep a listen out on that folkradio, I only really use the one on Spotify but it isn't great.
Just listening to LAU now, good to see their stuff on Spotify! Pretty good, I prefer something a wee bit faster but great evening listening. I've either missed them, or they aren't playing.
I haven't been able to get to any Celtic Connections stuff this year, been busy or the things I've wanted to go to are to expensive. Planning on checking out some of the free stuff this week though. None of my pals are into that sort of music though so will be me, and a pint. If the music is good, there are few better things.
