If you buy something off someone from a internet forum and the goods do not get delivered! can the Bank Transfer be reversed? if not what would be the best way to get your money back?

Cheers

You can't really get the money back through the bank, once it's finished and credited into the other person's account. Depending on the value, you could possibly involve the police, or if you have the other person's details, then file a Small Claims Court case online.

But basically, don't expect the bank to be able to give you back the money straight away. Their only responsibility in this case was getting the money to the destination you asked for - they won't be really interested about what the payment was for, or whether you received the goods or not! :(

You can't reverse the transfer without legal intervention, that's why bank transfers are great for sellers, they offer protection where paypal offers none.

Small Claims Court case online, would that involve spending even more money? and I am guessing you still might not get the money back for the missing goods.

I am a bit nervous about giving out my bank details, that's why I only do bank xfers here on this forum as the members market is fairly secure, and there are many trustworthy members.

Have a look at http://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/ when the website is back online... I think there might be a lower/no charge if the value of the claim is below a certain amount.

Also, this is no different from filing a case through the normal way, i.e. there is no guarantee of anything. That's why you have to think about whether this person can, and will, pay up when there is a judgement against them.
