I thought this would be a simple task but apparently not.
Want to make some custom length leads for TV, PC etc.
They use a mixture of the standard ‘kettle’ type plug, cloverleaf, and figure 8 ones.
I have so far not found anywhere that sells these as just the plug ready to be self wired.
In fact even a 3 pin mains plug seems difficult.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

As above, CPC or RS. RS Components do free delivery and ship same day before 8pm. I'd also just buy the cables and snip the 13A mains plug end. Don't feel comfortable rewiring moulded small plugs like figure eight, and I'm an electronic engineer.

is there still a low amperage/fused uk mains plug alternative that has a much more compact multi-adapter/trailing-gang ? maybe that is a better solution for the mains end ?

as LuckyBenski commented .. can't imagine wiring a small figure of eight plug ... maybe some with solder connections are more compact though.
