Bargain of a lifetime!

Does it matter if its stolen?

You didn't steal it, you bought it from a proper shop in good faith.

Bargin!

Whilst he should not get in trouble with the law if it is nicked, it will be confiscated and he would have to try and make a claim against the store.

Nice deal btw

What a great find you lucky SOB! If it were me I would have not registered it or reported it but rather just kept the Cash Converters receipt, Yeah it probably is nicked hence the password problem but you bought it from a shop that's supposed to do all the checks before selling it so it's not your fault. The only problem you may face is if in the future Apple discover it's stolen and they know where it is now. Registering it means you'll always have the worry it could be confiscated :(

Anyway it's a great machine and I reckon it's a keeper, I recommend installing Windows 7 and maybe even Ubuntu (triple boot with Refit) for some extra fun. :)

I saw a brand new MacBook Air advertised at £499 a couple of weeks ago that almost got me reaching for the wallet. Unfortunately it turned out to be a mis-print (on the front page of the catalogue no less)

But £100 for a MBP is in a bargain league of it's own.

i wonder how much the person actually got for it since you got it for £100

Which is exactly why it must have been stolen. No one it their right mind would have sold it for £100 unless it was nicked.

I was offered a bike for £5 in cardiff (roath) by some kids, doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out they'd nicked it.

Not everyone reports stolen items or records serial numbers.

Nice going but tough luck for the poor chap it was nicked from!

After I was burgled the cops said someone had tried to flog my phone to the local cash converters but they turned them away as they couldnt prove they owned it. However they only keep CCTV for 24 hours. Cops said this is as they know where most of their stuff comes from and don't want to put people off coming in with the stuff.

Wish I was as lucky as you!

But it does seem like it was nicked. Pretty much everything that got nicked from me when I was burgled ended up in CashConverters! Although they were electronics and things that couldn't be traced like a mobile phone etc.

Canon Ef 28-135mm Is Usm Uv Filter Genuine Lens Hood

nice bargain but surely if cash converter bought it for £50 they would still sell it for £500+

doesn't make any sense

You jammy mother f*cker! :D

Nice find, Snow Leopard is about £30 if I remember rightly so you could just buy a new copy, seeing as you saved £500+ odd haha.

Awesome find! but agree with everyone else, most likely knicked, although surely the person who nicked it would know its worth more than £50 and look to flog it through ebay or something?
