Bargain toolchest from halfords :)

But the pro ones are four times the price of the op one. Has it not occurred to you the the op might not have been inclined to spend all that etc etc

If it suits him its fine and he didn't pay the earth

Oh i realise that people have budgets, but the one i tried in halfords, simply trying to open the draw was a task. You had to wiggle it from side to side while pulling and you could feel the whole thing flexing. I wouldn't even purchase one for £40. The quality was shocking. I think i paid £119.99 for my 5 draw professional, so not exactly 4 times the price considering the one in the OP is £60 in store and reduced from £119.99...

Is the pro one with the bearings?

This was the reason I never bought the cheap one, they had this one right next to the red one and the differecne was night and day!

I always looked at buying tools from Halfords as like buying cables from Comet. If you want quality then you can get much better but you have to pay for it, if you want cheap then you can get as cheap or cheaper off eBay with the same quality if not more.

I originally looked and thought it was too cheap but at the moment I've got a few hundred quids worth of tools kicking around my garage. Not worthy of a top quality tool chest, too much moneys worth to ruin.

Decided to take a punt on the 5 drawer version for the same money. I'm sure it will do fine for sitting in the corner of the garage. I'll treat myself to a nice one when we move house :p

Will get another 4.5% off for instore Quidco registered 2% cashback card.... every little helps :o

Not strictly true, the halfords professional range can't really be beaten for the money. Especially when you can pick up an entire socket set for the price of two bluepoint/snap-on ratchets and they would last an average home mechanic for life.

For the Halfords Professional range at least, that's not really true.

Um, I *know* how an expensive tool chest draw opens and closes.

I also know the cheapie one in my first post opens and closes in an acceptably smooth manner.

It's a toolbox for gods sake, not a porsche...

You need to know how a proper tool chest is supposed to open and close before you can appreciate how **** the halfords one is.

Horses for courses. At our engineering centre we have top end stuff as it is used daily and it is how we make our money... well some of us, I am 80% desk jockey ;)

At home though for something that will be used once a month to sit in my garage that is full of garden tools, bikes etc. which condensates on the inside dripping water all over the shop in the winter... it is fine.

When I have my "proper" garage I'll invest some proper money in one :p

surprised no one has mentioned the halfords industrial range, one up from the pro. if you want something more in line with snap on quality it comes highly recommended.
