Hey Guys,

Soon I will be embarking on my epic quest that is my dissertation and need to swat up on some basic electronics for a small part of it - and first thing that came to mind was going out to pick up a "Electronics for Dummies" book or such, but I thought I would ask what tomes of knowledge you guys would recommend!

Thanks in advance!

Rich

Depends how much you need to know - might be worth going for a GCSE/A-Level book or something. We used MW Brimicombe's 'Electronic Systems' (which is out of print - and probably has been since the 80s!). A more up-to-date release of his is Electronics Explained, but I haven't actually seen it myself!

Edit: Just noticed the book has its own website which has a bit of the content on it. Would be worth checking it out!

Starting Electronics by Keith Brindley is not bad for a begginer.
And Understanding Basic Electronics by Larry D. Wolfgang

Do you actually want to build something or just learn the theory?

I used Electronics 4 by D C Green.

Edit if you go to a well known book store and do a seach for books by DC Green you will find a load of very good electronics books.

OK - Cheers for the replies! I might nip into a local book shop and see what they have to offer - I'm not after a lot, just to brush up and be able to explain myself in the correct terminology etc.
