Batman Arkham Asylum *Play it now*

I love it. Had it on 360 initially, then picked the PC version up when it was on offer at GFWL (what a mistake buying from that service was...). Just got round to playing it this week, first on the TV and now in 3D. Really good looking game and the best 3D title I've tried so far (adds a lot to detective mode in particular, it's now even more cheap because you can see exactly where enemies are).

I wonder whether the people that didn't like it weren't playing with a 360 pad? That made the game for me to be honest - it was almost unplayable without it.

As above - expected another hastily put together piece of licence garbage, just like you used to get in the 8/16 bit days, but was amazed. Loved the stealth aspect but yeah, I spent too much time in detective mode... :o

In my opinion it was boring. I can't be bothered to qualify it beyond that [which is what you mean, rather than 'quantify'].

Then why post? I mean if people are saying the games awesome and you think it's rubbish then at least post why. There's to many posts on these forums where there's one word replies why not open it up and have a discussion about it.

That way, at least, we may bring into play something you hadn't realised and you may go back to it again with open eyes or you may help people to make an informed decision on not getting the game.

I got this for christmas after having a slight interest in it since it came out but never enough to go after it myself. Started playing it the other day as was getting bored on online games and the kids/idiots that infest them. I love single player games for full on immersion (online for quick access and a bit or instant fun) but havnt been able to complete or get that far into many games in the last year or so (mass effect, JC 2, F12010, Black Ops, AvP etc etc) but this is the first in a long time that ive been so compelled to complete (not there yet, just got out of crocs lair), atmosphere, acting, gameplay are all fantastic and it just draws you in. First game in a while thats had me thinking about how to do stuff when im away from the game itself. Usually superhero games are quite pap (some exceptions) but this has to be top of the lot.

I think the main thing about this game is it is very slickly presented / polished, some good voice acting, smooth control etc. I don't want to say 'style over substance' because that's a bit harsh, but essentially it's the sort of game that would have suffered a lot had the execution not been up to scratch.

Little topic bump as I've just finished the game. Not gotten around to finishing all the challenges yet but I would have thought given I've done the story now it will consist of a lot of pulling down/blowing up weak walls with no-one to fight. Anywho..

Very, very impressed to be honest. Had no thoughts about it going in, hadn't even seen the hype it had picked up. Heard it might be something a little different and worth a look. Hats off to the Art Director. The atmosphere is brilliant, the level construction is brilliant, indoors is brilliant, outdoors is brilliant (when you first step outside is spectacular). You nailed the seriously creepy asylum look. The only caveat regarding this is the amount of time you spend in Detective mode, and you're often very tempted to just wonder around with it constantly on (I see a link has already been posted highlighting this exact issue). It's a shame but it's only one button to bash it on and off so if you force yourself to use it sparingly it's not too bad. I think just using the detective mode for crimescenes and letting us know about all the other things (vents, who's armed and who's not, weak walls etc) just in the normal view would be a better direction for the next game.

Combat is fantastic if a little easy. It's great fluidly jumping between enemies in all sorts of weird and wonderful ways. The motion translates throughout the entire game too. It lets you do great looking things easily, letting you flow through the levels without getting stressed that despite your perfect aim your grappling hook didn't catch that ledge, or whatever. Some may say it's a little too easy, but I think it feels about spot on.

Highly recommended to play with a 360 pad. It's clearly designed around one and just helps with the fluidity I think. I'l certainly be getting the next one when it's released :)

Lysander in going against the crowd shocker :p

Its a good game, I enjoyed it for what it was although a little repetitive in places. They kept trying to be different throughout rather than same old beat bad guys, next area, beat bad guys, next area, boss, repeat.

My friend is playing this on console after getting it last year for xmas but only getting around to it. He has also been praising on the quality of the game.
