Battlefield 2 still popular?

Yeah there's only 2 servers, and even then only one is usually populated - usually at least 30 people on though - must've cought a bad time.

No,no,no.....Forgotten Hope 2 is where its at for BF2 Mods....
An absolutely brilliant WW2 mod.....massive maps, brilliant gfx, incredible gameplay...
It really is the best mod you've never played....plenty of players as well, on public and private battle servers that can last hours...
I am actually new to BF2, didn't have a gaming PC at the time, picked up the Complete version on Steam not long ago after some friends who play BC2 raving about it and I am loving it so far.
How do you install mods by the way? like that PF2 one above, I assume you can only play them online?
I did have issues online the other day when Punkbuster kicked me at random, it seems it's a common problem and I don't know if it was the fact Steam was running or that my GF went online on her netbook on the same wi-fi (it was almost exactly the same time she started streaming something).
Anyway, it's a great game and I fear that all other PC online shooters will be bad console ports ala MW2 and BC2 and nothing will match the awesome.
BF3 better be a step up at least

I like the 'Super Infantry Clan' servers for consistently low pings.
Usually always pretty full, especially on Special Forces.

Why do people assume you need the latest hardware?
An 8800GT still runs the majority of games maxed out or at least a mix of medium/high settings, that's old tech now. Based on 4 year old technology and all.

I've played since Day One & still say BF2 is the Best online FPS bar none.
Infantry only is where its at & at the mo Der Wisterwilden (sp?) is the Best server as its Infantry only & No nades or launchers or you get a 24hr kick/ban. Top server with Mobs of armed Dudes roaming around looking for Gun fights.
These days i only play BF2 on my PC & play Forza 3 & F1 on my 360, It's the Perfect combination.
BTW I have a 4890 & 4 gig & a Dual core so I Choose to play what i play, New games are Crap, full of bloom & prettys but have no Bullit impact or Kill feel.
AS for BF2 servers you can still go on 24 hours a day & find Full 64 man servers, That speaks for itself !!!

@ Cooper that actually looks quite good, I was a big fan of Bf2 back in the day (still play occasionally) but never tried any mods..

Love BF2 spent so many hours on it i nearly became an addict , thanks for the nod towards forgotten hope2 just downloading now ..
, thanks for the nod towards forgotten hope2 just downloading now ..1) For some reason when i put my claymores down , enemy units are walking right over or near them and they don't go off. I also hate the fact that some claymores go off and u are nowhere near them.
2) They should make this game non spawnable near enemy units or atleast a 2 second grace , nothing worse than spawning and dieing instantly.
3) Sometimes i've found it strange how i can see a single unit at a very long distance you shoot him once and he turns and kills you. How the hell did he see me hiding behind that ground object with his back turned

Just playd the AIX2 mod apart from the two ranked servers hardly anyone else was playing it , i joined the ranked server but the ping was 150+ and at times very stuttery
Ah well back to SF
Any server with AIXS at beginning of title should be ranked.
Was it conquest or coop you tried?
I play coop in AIX, usually a good laugh and quite a few servers around.

Forgotten Hope2 Has breathed new life into this for me and a few mates, no more grenade spamming and good even balance with nice realistic team play over big old school maps ... loving it .
Still very much playing. There are a few of us who play on the BattlefieldGotland servers ( http://www.bfg.nu ), which is where I'm usually to be found. Best time to catch me is always Sundays from about 7-11 if you're looking, but I'm on during the week too depending on work
Can't be doing with infantry only mind, give me an APC and some squadmembers with half brains and I'll happily cause havoc all day!

Ah, Project Reality...
The only game i've ever been intimidated by enough to stop playing.....
I find it, and the people, who play it, a thourougly unpleasent lot.....Noob's most definately not welcome....
It's as if your expected to be a tactical expert within a couple of games, and god forbid if you make a mistake...
Think i'll stick to FH2...
