Battlefield 4 Thread ~ Server details in opening post ~

Well I couldn't help my self and bought it. Not to unexpected it doesn't run great (feel like I'm ice skating in treacle). Slightly unexpected, though I should know better, its not ****ing finished !

i work for a software company, as a Certified Software Tester & Software Developer. Make a Bug-less game is impossible. Making a Game with minor bugs is possible but takes time.

that's not the problem with this though, they took time to work on the issues with the beta, then they release the product in a worse state than the Beta after their work, which to me implies that they didn't check the changes against the release version ?

Anyone played commander mode? I had a quick go, was expecting more tbh, seems quite dull...

commander mode in bf2 & 2142 were the same :).

Just managed a 20 minute game without a crash. Whippity woo. This was on a 48 player server.

I still got the BF4.exe error after I'd left the game though.

I think I may well give Engineer class a try as I've played nothing but assault so far. I won't lower myself to ever play recon again.

Why does it always seem like I'm put on the worst team against a far superior and unbalanced rival team? I keep getting scores like 4 kills 7 deaths and being the TOP team member. Finding it difficult to enjoy at the moment, mainly because I play with people who don't know how to play it properly! It's annoying that my mates don't have gaming PCs.

well check this thread (think the OP has the list) and add some ocuk'ers :)

i've had no real issues on 48 or 32 servers, few disconnects but no lag as such.

We really need a more co-ordinated OcUK 'server(s)' - squad play is out the window in the majority I've been on. They're all over the map!

Holy.... That was bad on the para server, I was running forward and thrown back, ran forward and thrown back again. Driving and flying was impossible as it kept on jerking left and right.

Meh

On your note about servers. Servers to get Perfect would cost 10s Millions more to make perfect at launch. Somthing they wont need in 2 weeks. How would you propse that to shareholders. you cant. We want to spend 10 million more for a better 2 weeks to the customer, with no return?

Not quite sure what your meaning there but getting the server code and backend mostly working bug free and stable with only the odd minor bug/issue is pretty much part and parcel for developing the game.

The hardware/support side if done right even for a major game launch won't run into an additional 10 million in the short term.

....and back to normal.

Yet another crash on Lancang Dam and then on the next server:

Error
Could not join this server: it's not there anymore.

That's a new one on me. Among the 4 or 5 server errors I get, I've never had that one before.

Sensitivity on 0% and it's still too high, only on 1800 DPI too. sigh.

You can edit it through my documents\battlefield 4\settings\PROFSAVE_profile - IIRC even on lowest setting its still like 0.15 or something in the settings and will go lower. Might want to try changing the raw mouse setting to.

Been getting Error Could not join this server: no explanation a lot tonight infact struggling to play at all as when I do finally get in a server half the time the server kicks me out within a minute for no reason and/or get booted by an admin to make room for their friends.

Someone was obviously trying to hunt me down so I thought I'd be sneaky in one game and hide behind a corner in a building. I ended up dying before the enemy even got into my view. Having a low ping is so overrated.

i work for a software company, as a Certified Software Tester & Software Developer. Make a Bug-less game is impossible. Making a Game with minor bugs is possible but takes time. Developers want the game to Be Good, Testers do. But What happens is There will be a number Meeting with Director to decide if its release worthy. Even if Testers/Developers Say it shouldnt be released Directors overrule them. Its EA Directors/Shareholders at fault not DICE.

This is so true.

I do incident & problem management for a medical software company. And the number of times we push out a buggy release is unbelievable. I've seen our customers ranting at us on twitter, they've had enough of us taking their system down multiple times and just introducing new bugs.

We know about these, but push on anyway. We've not even released version 4.2 of our software yet but still have a 4.2.1 release already planned to fix the bugs we'll be pushing out in 4.2
The testers know its buggy, the developers know its buggy, the support staff know its buggy, but external company pressures and deadlines means we carry on anyway due to pressure from the board.
