Battlefield Bad Company quick yay or nay?

IMO its both a Yay and a Nay.

Its good but not as good as BF1942 imo, in which I prefer the much larger maps and the way that everyone has the same gear rather than some having better scopes, or body armour, or Carl Gustavs, or Magnum ammo etc, simply because they have played for longer. (I preferred the more even field of bf1942 (I also preferred the planes and ships in bf1942)

However its good fun when the other players are decent, on the flipside, its also awful when the other players arent decent.

All in all, a mixed bag. I definitely got my moneys worth from it, but I will certainly not be playing it in 8 years time, unlike BF1942.

  • Retarded players. You'll mostly play with Eurotrash that will shoot you on sight if you take 'their' car/helicopter/boat/tank. Pathetic behaviour, I honestly thought there would be more mature players playing this game.

By all means, feel free to give it a go but prepare to be disappointed.

Not true for me and my experiences in BC2 which IMO is by far the best FPS MP around at the moment especially when you get a group of regular players together.

1. Lagg used to be an issue but they fixed it. We regularly play on servers with sub 50 ping easily. Sometimes you'll get lagg killed but hey, thats online gaming for you.

2. Not always the case, true some maps/servers tend to be populated by idiots using the sniper class (Isla Inocentes springs to mind). If you're on the opposing team, a) just laugh as they fail to arm any MCOMS or b) go behind them and stab them in the back. If you're on the same side switch servers - easy.

3. Again not always true, when we play as a squad we arm MCOMs and cover in the choppers/APCs/Tanks etc. About 3 in every 10 games you'll find people just hanging back - take the initiative, get in a squad who seem to be attacking and go arm them MCOMS yourself. The rest of the team will get the idea - or join us for some games.

4. Controls seem fine for me. I'd agree that the handling of the choppers in Vietnam are 'consoley' in their feel but the controls work well.

5. Retarded players are not specific to this game. L4D/2 were full of griefers. Go figure, the world is full of idiots and online gameplay is no different. Just find another server.

Your post is rubbish.

The ping is not 100. It is worked out differently to CSS. It is the ping to the server and the server ping combined which makes it look higher.

You have clearly been playing on noob servers regarding the sniper issues.

As for the rest, I cannot be bothered to type but you got owned when you played it and cant take it. :p
 
Im playing the SP now. It brings nothing new to the party but unlike MW it doesn't take itself seriously and the npc's conversation can be hilarious with some jibes aimes at MW.
Enjoyable but not sure I'd pay 20 notes for it. (I was lucky and got it in the Steam sale).
Not tried MP yet. I got gifted BF2 and Karkand took me back several years. Still brilliant if you can get on a well run server.

How many more times does this need to be said, the server ping and ingame ping are 2 different things.

The ping value in the server browser is the normal value you're used to seeing.
The ingame ping is the total travel time, which you don't normally see in online games, it is NOT the server ping

There is no more or less lag in BC2 than any other online server based game
 
ignore post 9 and 10 don't have them issues apart from one is that some servers are badly run get into a Managed one then enjoy as many people are.
Arma 2 nope badly written to late to compete with the likes off Battlefield bc2.
 
Is buchtis the same guy who was posting about how amazing his aim was, along with links to stats about how CSS was more popular than BFBC2?

My opinions:

1. I've never really experienced this to the extent where it has become a problem. I have in the past been killed a couple of times by the person I've just killed, it's annoying at the time, but not really an issue.

2. There are certain maps that have more snipers than others but other than that I've not really noticed this. Definitely not "practically everyone".

3. It's not the case that people don't bother with the objectives. People do bother the majority of the time. Occasionally you get people hanging back and not really trying and I admit that on occasion games have turned into DMs which is crap...

4. When I first started playing I did find the controls a bit clunky, but I've got used to it. They are fine now.

5. Never noticed this on BFBC2 but I did notice it on BF2. Maybe could be due to how I've played a damn sight more BF2.

Overall id say give it a go... :)

You seem to have a delusional opinion that I 'got owned and can't take it'. Weird as I usually had a 2:1 KDR when I played apart from when the entire team was camping up in the hills/trees sniping and not getting objectives. Here's just a sample of the scores I get when I play.

As with the ping, you're telling me that all these years the likes of CS, CS:S, CoD games and many others have been lying about the latency on-line? Because clearly we'd all have 100+ ping like in BFBC2.

Bottom line is, this game is just bad and not fun to play. The controls are horrid and the lagg shocking.

Sorry, what? Out of all modern FPS games, with the exception of WW2OL, BC2 does the best job of recreating battlefield chaos and feeling imo.

I understand that you may dislike the game, but to moan about it with such venom, on numerous threads is what is embarrassing. You don't get on with it. Get over it.

Just look at the length of the BC2 thread to see how popular it is.

Does EA or DICE put food on your tables by any chance? If not, you make it seem like they do by defending a game with your life which just makes you look bad to be fair. The OP asked for opinions about the game and I gave mine, lo and behold the BFBC2 fanboys descend on me like a pack of wild animals.

I moan about it because I literally got robbed of £6.79. That's 2 pints right there gone to waste.

Oh another thing I forgot to mention to the OP. The server search seems to be broken, a bit like the whole game. I've specifically asked it to search for Hardcore servers yet it brings up both Hard and Softcore.

Anyway, back to work people. :D

I got this game for free from mate, Finished, but can't say that enjoyed it very much, nothing special...same MOH... maybe was in wrong mood to play lol, :p

but it's good choice to kill your time)))
 
Been a battlefield fan since the start of the series but Bad Company 2 just doesnt do anything for me. Looks pretty good, runs nicely and I was surprised by how good the sp campaign was. Had some good moments with it but I just dont find it to be much fun.
