Battlefield Bad Company quick yay or nay?

Yay from me too.

Start off with a low number of server players. I've had some epic 5 vs 5 games as you don't die as much and the vehicles are more freely available. Best way to earn points is to be a medic and follow the most active squad member around reviving him when he gets shot trying to rambo the MCOM's or flags. Drop loads of med boxes near the action.

Also what defrag said is very true. You will die lots at first. I'm still a newb at level 11, and at times i've felt like head butting the monitor. I only have myself to blame as i bought the game only last month, but as you unlock better weapons, it gets better and better. Right now you die a lot because most are at level 25+ now.

You just have to let the 24 deaths, 4 kills that you regularly get at first just not bother you and laugh it off. One day, you will be doing the same to a newb as well.

Yup, as mentioned several times you'll get your a$$ whupped at the start. Once you've found your bearings you will enjoy it immensely. I try to get on for a few games every if poss.

Best online FPS ive played since my Counter Strike days.

That Buchtis had a nice little rant but half of what he says had no bearing on my opinion of this game. Its awesome.

Graphics are stunning. Vietnam is where I play and I lurrrrrrrve it :D

PS. Im crap at it!, but Im having fun

Yay from me, but since you already purchased BFBC2, my opinion doesn't matter much.

The only downsides to this game (and I've played since release) are:

1) Sometimes you get disconnected from servers
2) Your rank gets reset to 1 and you're unable to select your unlocked kit

Both are easily fixed by logging in and out. These have been addressed so many times since release, but EA haven't bothered to fix it yet (I presume it's EA's fault).

Lastly, I would ignore posts about lag since pretty much every online FPS has its latency issues and none are perfect. I've hardly noticed any lag since the release.

Quite simply as others have said ignore what Butchis has said, it’s utter tosh.

If this game is embarrassingly bad then I may as well give up PC gaming altogether.

The levels of exhilaration you get when rushing to destroy an MCOMS, taking out 5 enemies, then getting the points for destroying - nothing on the PC currently beats it (imo of course).

Then the inevitable come-down, you find a nice bush somewhere to crouch down in, gather your thoughts, reflect on your uberness in your single handed effort for taking out 1.5 squads and removing the MCOMS, take a couple of seconds to scratch that itch on the end of your nose that’s been bugging the crap out of you for the last two minutes and WHAM!!! You get smacked, right between the eyes.

Respawn, repeat and wonder where the evening went!!

Nay from me. The engine feels a bit stiff which for me makes it not fun. Guns are unbalanced, there's no point using an SMG when you can be a medic, heal people, AND get a better gun. Plus the game is very dependent on vehicles which I'm not a fan of.

Will be interesting to see what Brink offers.

What i will say though is that i respect it's more of a traditional fps than say, COD. At least BC2 has real objectives, and isn't a noob fest that doesn't punish dieing.

Vehicles are metal coffins to a half decent team. The only problems are when you get decent pilots with flares since they're so ridiculously overpowered now they lowered the recharge to 10 seconds. But yes, the accuracy of LMGs is retarded. Burst/single shot you can drop people across the map with perfect accuracy and a gigantic clip size while sitting on a medkit.
